So I'm watching Dateline tonight, and the whole hour is dedicated to exposing online predators trying to pick up minors. Well, I'm thinking this is a pretty cool show, obviously MILLIONS of people watch this popular news television show and it seems like a great deterrent for potential child molesters. The show lured the kiddie-seekers into a house where they were then confronted on camera, and met by law enforcement once they went back outside and then arrested. NOW - here is where it starts to suck. At no point during the program did they show or reference what these internet pervs were driving . . . UNTIL, the last guy, who happened to be a 6th grade teacher (and this guy was Dateline's 'main attraction', folks) is showcased. They show the guy pulling up to the house where he thinks a 13 year old girl is waiting for him, and the show narrator goes on to say something like, "he pulls up in the driveway in his Corvette . . ." and the camera pans to a bright red C5 coupe rolling up! This is not good publicity for us and personally, I was extremely disgusted that Dateline went out of their way to point out that pervert boy was driving a Corvette!! I wonder now what all the other perverts were driving. Well, the public will never know. . .but they will have the association of a shiny C5 with a child molester burned into their grey matter. I, for one, plan on contacting Dateline to voice my disgust of their helping to stereotype and associate our choice of product with online predators . . .

Of all the cars driven by all those guys, they show the red Vette. I hated that not only for the car shot, but 'cause the idiot was a teacher. Damn. I'm a teacher too and drive a red Vette as well.
Thanks, NBC.

It's just like when their is an accident involving a corvette they always mention that they were driving a corvette they never mention the type of vehicle most of the other times.
Corvette is probably the only car that would get mentioned. I wouldn't sweat it.......there are probably more priests convicted as molestors than Vette drivers.

That sucks too . . . but at least in the case of an accident, the Corvette has relevance (describing a car in the accident). With Dateline, pointing out the 'Vette has absolutely no relevance to the subject and is associating something very negative with the Corvette community by associating us with felons. Damn shame . . .
So when Uncle Pervy hits the Big House, you suppose his C5 will be for sale cheap? I'll trade him some cigarettes and some soap on a roap to drop for it.
Damn- and I was upset I missed that last night. The only reason they do something like that is to proove that the predators are in any station in life- they used the vette as proof that even the affluent guy down the street can molest kids.
As much as it upsets me I doubt the american public will now associate corvette with kiddy ****.... wait..... the american public? OH NO WE ARE SCREWED!!!!!!

Amen to that.
Though the media is incredibly twisted, none of this surprises me at all, either.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
