I agree with the above two responders... I run a front plate...
It IS the law... It's not OK to break some laws and not others... Even though yes, we all speed on ocassion, etc...
Today I'll drive on the wrong side of the road because I feel like it... I know it's against the law... but my car looks better on the other side of the road... See what I'm talking about??
Run the plate.. it's OK...
I don't run front plates at all. Alot of these Laws are designed just to get our money. You should realize that. The analogy you gave was completly far fetched. You went from the harmless act of not showing front plates to endangering public saftey. I rather deal with morals than law. What is moraly wrong with not running front plates. All men were created equal and just because a couple of law makers agree on something doesn't make it right.
P.S I have signed many petitions dealing with this matter.
You guys are right, in California 'ze govenor dozent wear ze front platez either'

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you don't like the two plate law then lobby your legislature to change it. Whining here about how ugly your Vette looks with a plate ain't getting anything changed. BTW, I agree with you and thank god I live in AZ where they only require one plate.
Not much chance of our two plate law be changed here in California. Many cities use cameras to catch red light runners. They need the front plate in the picture to know were to mail the ticket.
After you get a ticket, just put them on at home... go to the police station... get the ticket signed off... go home and take them back off.
The only time I get this kind of ticket or someone else does is along with another violation like speeding. Never pulled over just for that. Over here you just have to get it signed off and pay $10 fine.

We have those here in the Phoenix area, too; they just take a picture of the back license plate - the front one is not needed...

I totaly agree.
I will never run a front plate on my vett. Call me bad, tell me I'm a A-hole but I don't give a rats a$$. It's a stupid law and Arnold thinks so to, so whats good for the Govenator is good good for me.
Sorry but that's a ridiculous analogy. Nobody is going to get hurt by running without a front plate, but somebody will certainly get hurt running on the wrong side of the road.

You are correct fella's... I went off the deep end on this one... Not a good analogy at all... dumb!!!
PS, I don't LIKE running a front plate but I do so in order to NOT pay any fines... Years ago my brother was pulled over several times over the years when the car he had did not provide for a front plate... It was costly if he didn't get off with a warning...

Wasn't racing, wasn't speeding, wasn't even swearing, but I got ticketed. "No front license plate." I've passed by too many cops and drove my last car for a year without a front license plate, and now this.
I told the cop that corvettes don't come out of the factory with front license plates, and he told me he was just "enforcing the law."
Bottom line: front license plate on the C5 is a sin and I will never put one on.
Any others pulled over for something so stupid?
Was this a city LEO or the CHP...I got ticketed in Napa by a meter maid a few years ago and when I went in the station to show them I had placed the plate on the front..they were surprised I got a ticket...because they thought Corvette came that there is no place to mount a plate. They also made it CLEAR that the meter maid is a contracted service and not a police department employee. Meter maids generate money for the city.
Bottom line..put the plate on..show the department and pay the fine and if you are bold enough take the plate off afterward.
Good luck Bud...
Rsty
Cops are like plummers, some are good some are bad, that does not make all of them A-holes. If the state your car is licensed in does not require a front plate, then you can drive anywhere without one. 1st year rookies may not know this, but the judge will.
Or sharks...jump up from nowhere and bite you in the wallet.

Yup, and I got a ticket for it too...and I got pulled over by a local cop to my neighborhood, so I can't just ignore the warning. It stinks, and I didn't want to put the front plate on.
But after a while I got used to it. It doesn't bother me as much anymore.

There is a trick to beat that picture taking. Spray your front license plate ever so often with Aqua Net hair spray. It will put a sheen on the plate and when the camera takes a picture it is blurred..same reason they don't want you to place plastic on your license plates
I have never run a front lisence plate and never will. I would take a hundred tickets for it, rather than hurt the lines of a beautiful car. My vette is registered in NY, but my BMW is registered in FL, so i never even need to worry about having only one on that car.
now now kids, lets calm down. NWA described what to do with police best... but reguardless the guy who got the ticket is young and his vette is sweet, the cop was jealous. I get harrased all the time, I'm young and have a corvette, police always think I either dont deserve it or I did something ilegal to obtain it... Go to court get the ticket excused and keep rocking the no front plate, the car looks better w/o it.
