No use compliaining about it - its the law in some states and if you chose to break it, then just be prepared to pay the price in either the hassle of a stop or a fine.
I get harrased all the time, I'm young and have a corvette, police always think I either dont deserve it or I did something ilegal to obtain it...
Interesting comment. In my 35 years as a cop, I don't ever remember stopping someone and giving them a ticket because I was jealous or thought they didn't deserve the car they were driving. The bottom line is that many states require a front and rear license plate. Do I agree with it? No. Do I have a front plate on my car? No. If I ever get a ticket for it, will you hear me complaining about it? No.
I run the front plate the cover is velcroed on if I get stopped I say I was at a car show and forgot to take it off ! so far I have not been stopped .......
Any tricks to that set up? I have been driving mine over 6 years in Illinois, never been stopped, for no front plate. I never even got a front plate bracket when I got her. Mark

Hey now, I said it was a dumb thing to say...
"You are correct fella's... I went off the deep end on this one... Not a good analogy at all... dumb!!!"
Here you go..this is the best looking one I've seen!
That certainly wouldn't fly in Texas. We aren't even allowed to have a license plate frame on our cars. Haven't gotten a ticket yet, but if I do I will just pay it and keep on keeping on. If I get more than three no-front plate tickets over the course of 1 year, I will either consider putting it on, or fight them in court.
to get somewhere, so the last thing I need is to get stopped for a ticket like "No Front Plate". So mine is on, as much as I don't like it, I like interacting with LEO's even LESS!!!
A funny little story since we are on the subject. I am in the military stationed here in Washington State, which has a front plate. I am originally from Pennsylvania, which does not have a front plate. I was driving my Impala SS to work one morning (which is licensed in PA) when a local cop thought it would be a good idea to waste my time. So, he pulled me over for following him (he was going 110mph without his lights on, so if the "law" can do it, so can I). After he made me wait for 25 minutes, he came back and told me that I needed a front license plate. He said, "the Washington law (and recited the code) states that all vehicles travelling in the state of Washington must have a front plate". I said, "Pennslvania does not have a front plate, what do you want me to do, call the DMV and have them custom-make me one"? He answered, "keep being an a**hole and I will write you the f**ing ticket". I said, "whatever man". Got his name just in case and rolled out. No ticket.
I live in Washington State and I m wondering if you got pulled over by a door checker or a WS Patrolman. The WSP knows the law and respects all states laws. I had Alaska plates on my car which had expired, Alaska gives you 3 months grace on expired plates, he looked up it and said have a good day...No problem....Tude get tude...
Those cops have to walk up to cars all day long without knowing if someone will throw down on um..give um a break.
I got pulled over for front license plate 3 times. First time I told the cop that the dealership told me that I did not need the plate on the front (Which was true) and that’s why I did not have it on the front (Got out of a ticket with that one). The second time I told them the car just came back from Wisconsin where a front license is not required that’s why it was not on there. I told that cop that I was going to put it on later on that night (Second one I got out of). The third nothing worked and got ticketed.
You always have the option to speak to a hearing officer to explain yourself. At the very least, speaking to a hearing officer could result in a reduction of the cost of the ticket.
Just my two cents.

I'm sorry about the way my comment came out, it was def. my fault for the way I worded it. I didn't intentially mean all police but most of the cops in the bay area are younger and I guess you could say "hot headed." You said you've been an officer for 35 years so your wiser and more experienced. I just ment as a generalization when someone sees someone young in a nice corvette they are jealous and this I know for fact. I get people telling me all the time "oh thats just not right, oh I cant believe you have a corvette, balbhlabh" I just wanna say sorry again, I didnt mean to upset you.
Dude I feel ya! BUT, the law is not gray on this... In some states it is BLACK and WHITE! If you live in a state that requires a front plate, get one. I know you have gone a year with no problem, but now you have been busted. You are a target. get a plate. That same LEO and others will get you again, and again. It's not worth it. Play by the rules. Your vette is awsome even with the front plate.
C'mon! Are you serious with this "The Law is Black and White"? The bottom line is that we all know its a rediculous law. Just because its a law doesn't make it unquestionable. The guy knew he could be stopped for it and accepted the "risk" (as do I and the majority of vette owners). He got stopped for it and is simply stating that it was a lame stop justified under a rediculous law. I'm sure he'll put on the front plate, get an officer to sign off on the correction, and send in the $10 or $15 along with the signed off fix-it-ticket, only to go home and take that dumb looking front plate right back off.
Here's to those of us that understand life is NEVER Black and White.

If your state requires a front plate…..you may want to consider getting “vanity plates” which should counter-act some of the ugliness of the front plate. That's what I do.
