Holy , I am really sorry to hear of your misfortunes. I hope you heal without any long term problems. I still have back problems from a couple of years ago when a fool ran a stop sign on me in my month old (to me) vette).

I am really sorry and hope things all work out in your favor.

Thank God you weren't seriously hurt. You can always get another Vette, but you can't get another you.

EDIT: Lowering the BAC from .1 to .08 doesn't make those with 2.3 BAC drive any safer. It does nothing but increase the number of DUI arrests for people who drank, but are far from "drunk" by any definition outside that given by the state.
I have not heard the ragging dangerous alcoholics phrase used against anyone. The statement made many times over is "DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE". Now which one of those very difficult words do you need defined. This is not a hard concept to learn.

There is absolutely NO reason to have alcohol and driving mix. If you must have a drink ("a measley 2 glasses of wine or beer") with your meal make one person the driver and they do not drink. Then the next time out you rotate the driving assignment.

Sorry to be so dogmatic, but I have had to counsel too many children, in my school career of 36 years, and comfort them because someone felt they Must have "a measely 2 glasses of wine or beer" and they killed a innocent life.

The last boy killed at my school, by a drunk, had a genius IQ. He loved science and was extremely good at it. Maybe he would be the one who found a cure for cancer. But not now, all that happens is that at each graduation a scholarship in science is given in his name to a deserving senior who will major in science in college.

I am so sorry to hear this happened, but like everyone else, am glad that you are not extremely injured.

I also agree that there is no excuse for drinking and driving. I find that it's not difficult to simply NEVER drive if I have anything to drink at all.

Better safe than sorry...

I'm am so sorry to hear about your 'accident'. I was in a real bad one 3/2004 and finally had the surgery on my neck 8/2005.....Be aware of how you feel and keep following up with the Dr.'s if need be...

The car can be replaced..... I know that may sound hollow now but it's true. Stay strong, feel better---

Unfortunately, that amount doesn't cover much after medical, lost wages, etc..... trust me, unfortunately I know.... My insurance and the insurance amount that the guy who hit me was the same amount, $100k..that means that one is canceled out....then the bills start coming in, 30% to a lawyer, etc.... Let's hope this guy had lots of insurance, maybe even an umbrella policy....

I find it hard to believe all these cases you speak of all come from driver's who stopped with their second drink.

Glad to hear you are OK.
You see, my in-laws were slammed head on back in November by a 25 year old drunk woman , BAC of .28 and on top of all that some sleeping pills and anti depressants . She killed my father in law , and my mother in law is still receiving treatments and can only walk using a walker or a wheel chair .and the girl walks away from the whole accident without a scratch ( driving an SUV) and is out on BOND to his day , court hearings keep getting postponed , our lovely government at work, go figure

Join your local MADD chapter, I am sure you can help them stop drunk driving , and they can help you with the information you need to prosecute your case . it's a wonderful organization , and is worth looking into .

100%

It doesn't matter if you are a little buzzed or an accident about to happen you are getting the same punishment. It seems most of these serious accidents happen when people drive completely bombed. I know a DWI is no comparison to losing a loved one but your life gets a serious set back just for driving at .08 and at the same time if you drive at .23 you get the same charge though the crime you committed is really more like reckless endagerment.

The 0.08 BAC for legally intoxicated was chosen based on numerous studies which showed that for most people this is when a clear impairment in driving happens. Having 1 or 2 drinks spaced over the course of a 90 minute dinner isn't going to get you to 0.08 BAC, it might, however, still cause your driving to be impaired. Unfortunately the DUI laws have been too lax for far too long, and innocent people have to suffer because of it. You want to drink? Stay home. You want to drive? Don't drink.

From looking at that, do you all think if the insurance company decides not to total it out that it will ever drive the same? The right rear wheel is bent foward which indicates to me that the whole drivetrain along with the rear end and tranny took a hit. Please correct me if I am wrong?

Good to see you will come out OK from the experience....

My soapbox sermon on how I'd like to see laws change???

You drink and have a wreck, I hope the laws would premit minimum 1 year in jail. Drink/Drive, get in a wreck and hurt someone - AUTOMATIC 5 years in prison. Drink/Drive get in a wreck that kills someone AUTOMATIC 10 years in prison. No plea bargain.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope everything turns out OK for you and don't take too many pain pills. That would be another whole set of problems.
