No. Push the button once, it gets turned off. Push and hold the button for about 15 seconds until the DIC displays "competitive driving".

It's the only way to fly!

It accelarates with the car feeling like the rear is going to the front, then it straightens up.

Short of dumping the A4 for a 6spd hook up with some knowledgeable C5 owners and have them take it for a blast. There is a difference between normal and stumble on acell. My $.02.

I'm not in the league with you guys, but this has been my experience, too.

Thank you, It's rather obvious, I'm not in that "league" either. Sometimes it seems that I'm fighting an uphill battle here, trying to get a simple point across. One would think from reading some of these responses, that everyone has a "rocket" straight off the show-room floor, and that just ain't so.

If it's stock, and it's not a Z06, that's how it's going to accelerate, period. Nothing really spectacular off the line, but when 3000 rpm's are reached, THEN you get your butt pushed back in the seat.

Oh well, it's been beat to death now, enough as it is. Let it rest in peace.

Default Take a look at your MAF

I know many people have given you advise etc on the acceleration issue. But I noticed you have a K&N. Take a look at your MAF if its loaded with dirt and filter oil, clean it with some electronic spray cleaner from radio shack. They make a spray can type that has a very soft brush on the spray nozzle. My 2000 had a similar issue and it was a little flat and stumbling between 3000-4500 RPM. I cleaned the sensor and it ran better. I ultimately replaced it and problem solved, mine was really caked with crap.
