I bought my first one at 20, it was a 1996 red on red; now 27 and I'm on my second which is a 2000 Conv. I have loved CORVETTES as long as I can remember. If you want it, see it, GO AFTER IT. Good Luck
EG... any chance youre going to be up here any time soon? love to meet ya and see the car.... i see you in posts a lot around here...
yeah its true, i dont know if iw ant a coupe or vert yet... i love the lines on a coupe but his car up there is the first vert ive ever been in... and its so cool...
bad thing is i sunburn going to get the mail so a vert PROBABLY isnt as smart of an idea... plus im not sure i can see around that drivers side blindspot i seem to imagine it having... anyone?
i screwed up and in the midsts of looking at c5s 2 years ago, i impulse bought the srt cause it was fun to drive... it still is, i love the car but its not my dream...
home.cfl.rr.com/mistermog/srt.html
A) still have the srt... cant afford 2
B) im scared
the feeling of having a dream actually obtainable, kinda freaky... but, if i find the right car, anything is possible. though to make that easy, itd have to be through a dealer, and those prices are a bit higher, and they'd put a pineapple up my butt for my old car so im looking to sell that private to recoup a LITTLE mod money.
I know what you mean about your dream coming true. I still walk out to the parking lot after word every day and think to myself "Damn that's a nice car."
mistermog, you can live vicariously through me. I have a 99 MN6, Z51 upgraded to FE4, no dual climate and it's an FRC. Check my sig for mods. This is my first Vette. I bought it used and it was affordable. I don't think I'll ever be without one again, at for the tiem being. I'm 54 and wanted one since I can remember. I think it was on the TV show Rt 66. Don't get married and you will have one while you are young.
Ive felt the punch... (or lack of actually, its so smooth i didnt notice how fast i was going, its MUCH different than a high HP turbo car).... sigh im already addicted...
and yes, im going to be sitting on this forum, like i do everynight... until way too damn late i know this isnt genetic... what caused this horrible disease?
You know what you want and are willing to sacrifice to get it! It will happen. I was not so smart. Didn't even think about buying a "Vette" until one day I was driving home from the office and saw a Torch Red Coupe sittin on a local Chevrolet lot. Dont like the dealer as they insulted my wife many years ago ( I know, silly but, I just can't drop it). Anyway on a whim I turned in and just started looking at the car. The salesman was on me like a frog on a lilly pad! I had no intention of driving it but, I did sit in it and decided "I GOTTA HAVE THIS". Resisted until the next day after my last patient and then stopped again. Drove it and before I even got out of first gear I knew I was going to have that car. It just hit me like a ton of bricks. I had been driving a solid mid 11 second Mustang daily for a few years and loved it to no end; UNITL I got behind the wheel of my Vette. It all evaporated instatanly. Called the wife and she rushed down to the dealer cause she knows me and knew that I would "fall" for almost any trick they played to get me to buy it. With her cool head and finacial backround we were able to get it for a good price (38,000). The blue book for it was 42,000 so wife did me GOOD! I will be driving a Vette til I can no longer get in and out, Heck when that happens I may just decide to live in it. What is the point of this reply? I really don't know but had fun writting it!

As Rogue Wave said - Mod Fever is much, MUCH worse!!
Hey man! I actually got to see the famous Grond at Eckler's Springfest. I never got around to introducing myself. I'm hoping to make the next Stuzcruise too, so I'm sure we'll be seeing each other around!
hahaha guys... i have mod fever with my SRT... not quite at the same level... but i know ill have it bad...
i dont like how c4's feel, im not terribly comfy in a c5, but a c4 isnt my bag baby... ive driven a c6 vert (heh from a dealership... i had to be nice to it but the salesman was cool... i heard he got his hand slapped for letting someone drive it... ) and its gorgeous but i just cant afford that, so im settling on a 99... thats doable
now, vette...vette vette! vette? vette vette! ack, there i go again
EDIT: Oh, one thing pisses me off... i was riding with bandit saturday, and we must have passed 5-7 vettes, and we waved at everyone and NO ONE waved back... im going throw twinkies at people that dont wave!
Ive wanted a corvette since i was 6 (now 25) and they just keep getting better. I read about all you people and how much you love your cars, and how they take on meaning and personality with you, and how some people really get emotional for the cars and... dammit... i dont have one!
This is just my little way of saying grrr! reading these stories makes my hands ache for a steering wheel and brain try to figure any possible way to obtain one....
you guys suck, you make it worse!
keep it up everyone, and ill join you one day.
You'll get it!
My very first word was actually "vette" according to my parents. They had a gold 69 when I was born and apparently I just loved it.
I've loved Corvettes my entire life and now at 31, I finally have one of my own! You will too!
hahah you got me beat, mine was "boomba" <-- belly button
anyway, yeah i know ill have one soon, my plan is by the end of the year, so im not too worried. though every day i am on this forum, i want one just a little more.
its just a shame though, people that hae these cars that say "they are just cars" and not care or appreciate what they have. mostly the older folks hehe... but that makes me cry... i mean geez... ill give them my car sigh
rant over but i love this place, i dont hate the forum.... obviously

I find that when I get close enough to wave, many Vettes have tinted windows; I can't even see if they see me wave & I sure can't see them if they do wave.
