Nice idea, but shouldn't have you used a 2 X 6 instead of just a 1 inch board ? That board can't spread much weight over your cross member, almost same as just jacking in the middle of the cross-support (which I thought was a no-no). I use a pressure treated 2 X 6 as they can carry more weight.
That is why I used Red Oak instead of white pine. I needed something thin enough so I wouldn't have to drive up on boards first. I have jacked the car up several times and nothing has broken yet. I even notched the board with a router so I could use it on the front and it wouldn't hit the drain on the oil pan. I do have to drive up on ramps first to use it on the front. Maybe I should have included a disclaimer in the first post.
