A/C question
Has anyone replaced their own compressor? Is it necessary to remove the water pump? It looks like it is the only available space to snake this through. If the w/p has to come out is it 2 gaskets or are there o rings involved.It is sure hot here in Fl. have to get this done right away. At least my garage has a/c.

I'm not positive on the water pump removal to get to it, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. Except for '97s and (I think) '98s, all you need to remount your pump are the two gaskets. They are made of aluminum and have pre-molded silicone o-rings for sealing. The earlier Vettes had the paper type gaskets, and after a bit of a PITA cleaning off the old ones, the new style gaskets go right on. The pump can be removed and re-installed from the top fairly easily. Not too hard at all.
