Default Verts: Top down in Public

All you guys and gals with Verts out there I have a question.

When it is a gorgeous day out, no chance of rain, and you are driving around and then park the car, get out and go somewhere... Leave the top down or put it up?

Obviously I would not throw it up if I just ran into a convient store, but I am talking about maybe if you go to the mall for 3 hours, or a movie, or something that would take 3+ hours.

Do you guys leave the top down? Is that safe? I am always paranoid something might happen.. I have everything locked at all times, like the glove box, console, doors, etc., so thats not the issue.

Thoughts?

I wouldnt even think about keeping the top off if i was gone more than an hour somewhere. Rather be safe than finding a wet or greasy present in the car. I have a coupe but thought id give my 2cents.

It all depends on where, when and how long I'll be gone. Of course, 5 minutes in the quickee mart and she can be destroyed if they want to...

My normal habit is that I can go into a store for a short time and there is not much traffic in the area.. the top can stay down...

If it's out of town and I don't know the area, top is up... Long time away from her anywhere, top is up.

Putting the top up is peace of mind... It just depends on how I feel... when in doubt, put it up!!

Ok sounds good. Thats what I used to do with the mustang, but I just wanted to make sure I was not being paranoid.

Top will definitely go up if I am gone.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Unless it's just for a short time and I'm going to be very nearby where I can keep a close watch, I always put the top up. Otherwise, too many things could happen.

Same here. It's so easy to do, why chance it? Plus, it keeps the seats cooler on those warmer days .

Anything over a minute or two, the top goes up! I also won't leave the top down when I park it in my driveway (which is around the back of my house tucked away) because of dust, pollen, or random leaves and such...

Ooohhhh Sorry dude...

It amazes me that where I live folks can leave good stuff in the back of an open bed pick-up truck and the stuff will be there no matter what... It's amazing... I guess we're fortunate around here in the little ol' hick-town...

Come on it takes 10-20 seconds to put the top up. You don't have to latch both sides if you don't want to.

Here's a good rule to follow... "If you can't see your convertible, put the top up."
