After playing with my DIC the other day, setting the options the way I wanted them, I noticed that the drivers door would not lock with the key FOB or by pressing the lock/unlock switch. It makes a clicking sound like it locked and the lights flash etc, but the door will open and the alarm goes off. The door will lock with the key and manaully by pushing the lock and the FOB will unlock the door. Passenger door lock works OK. Any suggestions on what to look for or a fix?
I belive it is called a door control module ( DCM). One is for the drivers door a different one for the passenger door.
There are at least 4 possible problems that can cause your issue.
1.a short in the wiring or loose connections to the module
2.a bad relay in the module ( generally this means the fob does not unlock but the door button does) digi-key sells the relays for under $2 and a radio repair shop can remove it and resolder it
3. the circuit board is shot need a replacement DCM ( $50 used or approx $400 new from the stealership
4. the problem is not the DCM but the lock actuator.
I have been chasing gremlins myself the last couple of days. I have isolated the problem as a bad ground. (I have full system outage of LDCM, no comm...) Is the code the DIC pulls. I don't think that is what your problem sounds like. First pull the codes by holding down option and pressing fuel 4 times. Write down any codes for the LDCM of RDCM. the codes change every year but they are posted various places around the internet. If that didn't tel me anything useful I would hot wire directly to to lock actuator bypassing the module. If that doesn't trigger your latch you need a new latch. Going throught the wiring diagram checking power and grounds is the next process. As other members have stated it could just be your DCM which is about $180 for a new one from gm-car-parts.com
