I ordered a front license plate frame from Eckler's on 31 May 2006 and it still has not arrived. After calling the customer helpline a couple of times(nice folks but still no help), I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I've been charged(my credit card statement) for the part but nothing to show for it. They claim it comes from a supplier in Washington state but I'm not chasing down a supplier...
Have any of you had a problem with Eckler's parts, delivery or service?
Being a local Ecklers is great for those last minute grabs. However Ecklers is known for taking orders on back ordered stuff that takes MONTHES to get in.
Ordered a blackwing through them and they kept putting me off on when it would ship out, had my order cancelled and refunded my credit card and picked it up from Mid-America within a week.
I ordered 4 different parts from them also on 6/7. When I made the order they said it was all in stock. Guess what got 2 of the 4. Brake duct screens are on back order & wont be shipped till 8/11 & my license plate frame some time next week. It'll be the last time I ever order from them just because they lied & said it was all in stock. I know they cant help stuff on back order but do lie & tell me its in stock!
CLASSIC CHEVY INTERNATIONAL (FL) used to be a good source for classic Chevy parts...then ECKLER'S CORVETTE bought them out and merged the two businesses into one location. They wanted the product lines to expand their business. The customer service went downhill and I quit buying from them. I typically would order several thousand dollars of parts a year when I was building a tri five Chevy frame off.
I'm still waiting for a call back on a classic part inquiry from last year.
They don't manufacture anything themselves, but sell the products of other vendors and mark up the prices. They don't keep everything in inventory that their catalog shows (drop ship from other sources).
If you just gotta have it, touch it, feel it and take it home with you, then they're ok...otherwise, find another forum vendor with better customer service reputation.
I ordered a car cover from them that said "in stock", weeks later I am told it will be shipped from another location. I have tried calling them several times, all I get is "put on hold" for over 30 minutes, still no answer by phone, no way to get through on the phone. I e-mailed them and was told the above information, but they did offer me a 10% discount for my troubles. I still have not seen the car cover or the discount. Hell, they got my money right away. I will give them another week, then I am calling my credit card company and getting my money back, I will never use them again...
I've seen so many negative posts about Eklers, I wouldn't consider buying from them now. They have a lot of cool stuff and I get their catalogs regularly. But I just find the stuff I would like to have and then search around for it from some of the other vendors.
Sorry about your troubles though. I hope you get it resolved.
Thanks for the feedback and replies. It seems Eckler's has issues meeting their orders. The part was reported to be "In Stock" when I placed my order too! A simply license frame was all I wanted...

JUST HAD A PROB WITH MY WEATHERSTRIPPING AND THE GLUE WAS WEAK,,JUST SENT ME OUT A FREE ORDER
when i made my order a month ago i ordered few different parts, i called about a week later to confirm that it has been shipped and they told me NO it hasn't because my torch red door handles were on back order and are waiting for them, so i told her to cancell the handles and to proceed with the order immediatley, i could not believe that they never called me to tell me that they were waiting for some parts and my order was being held up because of it.
