Save the Wave, and save the World.
I for one am self-absorbed when i drive my vette. If someone waves at me i wave back. In the sixties when i had a vette yes everyone waved. When i had a 55 Chevrolet cruising the boulevard in the 60's everyone waved! Vettes, Mustangs, Roadrunners, Cudas, Chargers, Chevies, and whatever. And when i first got my 04 Vert i would wave at all the vettes and even a few others. But after realizing that it's not that way anymore i just drive my vette

Out of interest, what's your position on homosexual, agnostic, immigrant, Corvette owners who are living with their lifestyle partners and who regularly enjoy TV dinners?

Would you be more offended if they waved at you or if they didn't?

Lots of drivers just focus on whats ahead of them and thats it. As a Professional Driver we are taught to always scan your entire surroundings.. Also, with electronics such as cell phones, DVD players, Talk radio or whatever, people do get self absorbed to the point that they are a road hazard to others. Remember, scan don't stare. What does it do for you? Keeps you alive at intersections.. And remember to wave!!

Of course those who are complaining knew what the thread was when they opened it. I guess they needed to find something wrong with the day. I suppose their motto is "we serve no whine before its time." Trouble is that for some folks its always time to whine.

I didn't know about the wave until I was driving my vette home after I bought it. A guy in a blue C5 gave a wave and I, of course, returned one. Now, no matter what year I see, I always give a wave.

It's like our own little club on the road and I love it.

I think that live and let live, but if you think for a moment that America is not dissolving its moral fibers with no sense of right and wrong, or no sense ofhonor because of these kinds of lifestyles impacts children in a negative way (not all the time but most, there are exceptions of every rule), then you are mistaken. This country was founded on values, integrity, hardwork, God, and blood, and so was Rome. See any connections? We let the vette wave die because some of the members are tired of not being waved at, then we are letting a symbolic hand-signal of brotherhood fall to the wayside withthe other great traditions already mentioned. Along with apple pie and baseball. If fathers stop watching baseball with their sons it too would die. If we (the wavers) stop waving, then no one else will wave. I say wave and don't get butt-hurt if the other person doesn't, because truly they are missing out.

chocoholic, I am a little defensive to your post, it seems you are trying to say I'm a narrow-minded bigot, but I'm not. I just speak the truth as I see it. Kids left at home with MTV and the internet-**** are gonna be less focused on successful endeavors and more on gettin laid and high (most of the time, again exceptions to the rule).

I wonder if you had a son or daughter that died in Iraq, if you had a son or daughter that was gay, or what if the first owners of corvettes never waved at each other. Would your views be just a little different. Probably not....

I went for a ride today as well. I saw only one other Corvette, a DSOM C6. I waved. He waved back. I'm 100% on waves today!

I don't really understand what you are saying to me. I believe people should live as they want to provided they do it discreetly and without disrupting the community (anarchy type stuff). I have nothing against gays( I lived in New Orleans, so I know gay people, and they can be fun and great people, however it is a debauchery lifetstyle for the most part) and I fully support our military, so again I AM NOT BASHING AND/OR judging people. It's just this country needs to get back to basics, like when your neighbor returned you tools without asking him, or people will return your wallet with ALL the money in it. I'm that kind of guy, and I believe in the golden rule.

If you are gonna respond to a serious post, how about making yourself plain? Last thing I want to do on the Corvette Forum (most mature forum of which Im a member) is start an argument on politics. So if you think I said something wrong, then actually tell me what it is. And if you are agreeing with me then say so.

Bottom Line- Keep waving, keep saying thank you and please, hold open the door for women, respect your elders, and try to teach the kids of this country work ethics and honesty.

I don't care about people's personal choices. I would wave at ANYONE. I love people from all walks of life. It doesn't bother me what people's personal beliefs are. What does bother me is that as a whole this country is low on morals and integrity. As a whole. Still the best country in the world and part of that is it's freedoms no matter who you are.

No I wouldn't be offended, I would just wave. I don't judge or look down my noses at people. I think as a whole the country's morals are dissolving. That's all Im trying to say./discussion, this is c5 general, not the OT section.

Cool. I know I'm not crazy and I sleep really well at night. I love your wave.

Out of curiosity, what was the disagreement you had with my first comments? I was trying to say the same thing. Was my wording not right?

Just to set matters right, I'm not pissed if I wave and someone else doesn't (unless they look at me and act assholish). I am an easy goin man. But I really dig old values, it does my heart good when I see people treating each other right. Im 29 (30 in Aug) BTW. So I'm pretty young, just think like an old guy.

I'm with you 100%. I'm only 26, but my generation is so clueless about real American/Family values, it can be real depressing. As a fellow Corvette Owner, I wave at EVERY Vette I see. I even wave at motorcyclists. My dad's owned 15 corvettes since 1969, served 20 years in the Navy as an officer, and did two tours in Vietnam. He at least made sure I had the basics down. Wish there were more people like you out there nowadays.

Yesterday going to Andy's BBQ meet, I waved to probably a dozen corvettes and got waves back from probably 9 of them. The others probably didn't see me, but with the crazy traffic nowadays, I'd rather they watch the road than wreck their babies.

Keep the wave alive!
