HUD button?

HUD button?
My "99" has a button for Hud on the left side of the dash. But as far as I know my car didn't come with hud. Might I have HUD or is there a hud button on all "99"s whether it is installed or not. I would go down to the garage and try it out, but Mrs. "Speedvanish" just left in it for Nevada. I know somebody here will know. Thanks

Look for the large opening on top of the driverside dash. It may just be adjusted out of your vision. There should be an up and down button right with the hud button. If you have the opening then try adjusting it up or down. I know my wife does not like driving with it so she adjusts to down out of her line of sight.

1999 was the change over year for HUD and consists of these changes (as compared to 97, 98, and early 99)
HUD Button - this button was only installed if you got HUD as an option (unless someone installed it later, which is possible)
HUD 11 pin harness to connect Button to Cluster
Updated cluster with HUD projector hookup
Projector w/ wireharness
And finally the bezel w/ cut dash board
Now if you have the HUD buttons (shown above) then chances are, the car came with HUD. I believe you can check for RPO code UV6 which designates HUD, in either your glove box, or rear left compartment cover. It may be turned all the way down or off (brightness - rheostat slider), maybe projecting too far up or down (the up and down arrow button adjusts this), or the projector itself is burned out.
Also, maybe someone started to add HUD but never finished.
