I live in Mississippi where it gets so hot during the day and my car sits in a parking lot most of the day in the heat. I have a 2000 vette with a glass top so I was wandering if it would be a waste of time getting a sunshade for the windshield because of that top, or will it help. I want to keep the heat down and also protect the interior. Thanks

I know what you mean, I live on the MS Gulf Coast and I take mine to work quite a bit too. Can't afford to crack the windows because of all the afternoon showers here, so heat was a concern of mine as well. I use a sunshade and it does help a bit...if anything, at least it keeps the dash and top of the steering wheel a bit cooler.
I purchased a high quality sunshield from Mid America Part # 624-097-A It has corvette logo on front and is very well insulated. There kind of high for a sun shade but keeps dash totally covered and out of sun.
Howdy neighbor! I have a sunshade for the glass roof, which helps. Anything to reduce the amount of sun will help it some, but in this heat the best option is to leave windows cracked when possible. Boy do we need some rain.
Indeed, our black interiors can get hot. I have a 2000 coupe with a glass top. The temps here in Boise have been in the 90's and are expected to hit 100 this weekend. I do not have a screen for the glass top, however, I use a (NASCAR) sun shade with silver reflective foil and it definately helps. Keeps the dash and steering wheel from absorbing the extreme heat.
Well, it does get hot in my neck of the woods in the Summertime. And, I just use my Wolf Car Cover from Ecklers to completely shade my vehicle from the sun. Frankly, this cover is easy to store in my cargo bay, and, has kept my car cool; the exterior paint surface protected; and, the interior (custom seats and leather accessories) from fading prematurely. The Corvette C5 Wolf Cover also has a great "no fuss, no muss" warranty. And, was replaced after three years no questions asked from the manufacturer-distributor.
I use a sun shield on my windshield and took a generic sunshade(one that looks like reflective foil) and cut it to the shape of the top and put some suction cups attached to it. When I get in the car, I take it off and fold it neatly behind the passenger seat, works great, about a 20 degree reduction in temperature!
The BEST thing you could do is to use a car cover. Not only does it protect all the interior plastic components, but it also prevents the dreaded delamination and cracking of the polycarb top. People here at work are amazed at how new my car looks after 5 years of almost daily sunshine. I tell them, "Simple - I use a car cover!"
I have the two piece set like you are talking about and sometimes it takes me awhile to get the darn things back to the small circle so i can get them back into the container they go into.
I have been looking into getting a shade/cover to go on the inside of the glass top. I saw something on ecklers, but I dont know how good it would work. Has anyone used this shade, or something similar. Thanks
