Okay someone clear this up for me....why does it matter if your rotors rust? I wash the car, they rust up but it if course disappears after you apply the brakes. Is this just a visual annoyance?

Default Yep...it's official!

Just went to the local stealership during lunch (Daniels Chevrolet in Colorado Springs) and sure enough the 2006 vettes there have RUSTY ROTORS.

Your concept is correct - rotors rust, and on the part that the calipers 'hit' the rust is removed by driving and stopping.

However, the rest of the area on the rotors is prone to rust (the areas not 'hit' by the break pads).

Many of us believe this 'rust' is an eyesore.

So, we either purchase zinc coated rotors, or have ones we have zinc coated locally, or live with the rust look.

Personally I like the non- rust look, like this:

Wow, WCC definetly did not have to take them back , Im suprissed they did. Fact is its not a defect and is normal.
So you were / are that irrate customer that they just werent able to use logic with to explain it to you (that thats what all non coated rotors do). And they probably just said to themselves, Id rather take a loss then deal with trying to explain this to a hard headed dude..
The world is not out to get you, you can trust people sometimes when the try to explain something to you. 5 phone calls and you still didnt believe them? Now do you after reading everyones replys?

WCC went above and beyond just to make you happy, and you flame them..Hmm...

WCC rocks. It is customers like you who drive up the prices for those of who patronize a quality vendor like WCC.

Looks like we scared away another new member. Hopefully he has thick skin.

rickeymoore1 - 0

Scorched, defeated, humiliated. And hopefully, a little more educated for his trouble.

Simple solution, paint them before you install them, thats what I did with my GM Durastops and have had no problems, or put covers over them, they come in a variety of colors and chrome from many vendors, one of the good factors about the GM rotors is that they have one of the longest warrantys given on slotted rotors, usually most vendors will only warranty against cracking for 30-90 days, GM warrantys for a full year.

rickymoore1 - it's okay, you can come back now. You got a taste of what this forum is about - if you come in and ask questions these people will help you immensely with their knowledge of the cars and parts. If you come in ranting, screaming, complaining, pulling your hair, and waving your arms they will verbally slap you around. Tone down the rant and you will find this a great place to hang out. (just don't type in all caps)
