Default Weird head light problem?

Maybe some one has had this happen if I turn my lights on they both go up like normal when I turn them off they both close and then one comes back up the light is not on but it's fliped to the open position.

What kind of head light demon is this

As Grumpy says, if its associated with a grinding noise its a stripped headlight gear. Run down to the headlight gear part of this sticky for info and pics

If its all quiet it could be the nylon stop. Theres a TSB out which describes the fix

Both of mine pop back up and the lights are on. I was inside for 2 hrs. and a buddy told me my lights were on. I had to jiggle the switch and find a happy point between parking lights and off. I'm researching a fix and hope its a faulty switch.

I had that problem.

Previously I had the grinding gear problem. Used the rodneydickman.com brass gears. This requires that you epoxy the cover back onto the headlight motor. 6 months after that repair I started having problems with the left headlight like you are having. I looked at the headlight motor and the epoxy failed and the motor cover was loose. Contacted Rodney and got his updated repair which includes new epoxy and a metal brace. I just installed yesterday. Waiting 24 hrs for the epoxy to cure before testing. I assume it will cure my problem. BTW, the other headlight motor had epoxy failure also, just not at bad.

Also, there is a tsb about the drivers side headlight coming up. It requires replacing the stops and adding shims. Check this post:

No grinding that happened a while back and I replaced the gear with a brass one. It seems to be an electrical thing like the one light is confused

Hopefully this has happend to some body if not when I get it fixed I will post the cure maybe a big hammer

On mine, the loose headlight motor cover allowed the arm (that moves the headlight up and down) to move around. It moved around so much that it did not contact the down stop. The motor kept going and raised the headlight. It did contact the up stop.

It's not the motor. It's the stop tabs. Here is the link to the TSB and the fix. Perform this TSB and your problem will go away.

Good luck,

Did you ever fix the problem? Just curious what it turned out to be.
