Got 31.9 mpg ...

I must have been bucking a headwind..
I calculated 26.1 mpg for my 2004 A4 2.73 coupe on a 3550 mile trip from L.A. to Yellowstone and Glacier N.P.'s. All on 91 octane. That included all the siteseeing and some gridlock in L.A. Best tank was a hare under 30 mpg in Nevada. Lowest was about 23.5 for tooling around Yellowstone.
I get about 27 to 31 depending on the city driving. Since I got my Vette some people at work asked me how I'm doing with the rising fuel costs and I tell them my Vette gets great fuel milage. They cant believe it when I show them my wifes Scion xB mpg vs. my Vettes mpg. It's almost the same.
Are all these MPG numbers coming from your guy's DICs? My goodness that sounded naughty! Or are you actually calculating miles driven by how much gas you are replacing in your tanks? I, like most single women do not trust DICs too much... (Sorry, couldn't resist)
My current highway and city combined is 26.8 over the last 6 tankfulls.
the question is ... how accurate are the DIC readings?
The DIC Avg MPG is only figured on the last 20 or so gallons, so you can only get a reading from the last 1 and 1/2 tank fulls or so. This info came from a long ago post on the forum, and I believe its accurate.
On a 100 mile stretch between TorC and ABQ I was getting 33 MPG at 85MPH with the AC on in my 99 6-spd. This was after putting in Z06 (243) heads. Best I did with my old heads was 29-30.
Don't ask me why the Z06 heads give better MPG, but they do (at least on my FI car) and I also saw 1-2 MPG better around town.
