The '98 was sitting in full sun, windows up, 103deg, for about 5 hours. Suddenly the horns started blaring. Pressed fob, no change. Bumped horn pad several times, no change. Finally pulled 20amp fuse to stop. Checked relay and it was okay, according to book. Horns checked okay, no shorts. Put fuse back in and got the infernal noise so I removed it again. Having previously read other threads on the subject suggesting everything from pulling/replacing the horn/airbag pad to selling the car, I decided to do what I do best, nothing. I moved the car into the shade and left it there until the next evening. Feeling adventurous, I replaced the 20amp fuse and the horn, she didn't blare and hasn't since (about 4 wks).
My theory is the super heated interior caused the horn/airbag pad to relax enough to make horn ring contact. When it cooled it resumed normal shape and broke contact. Turning the a/c on for a period of time (with fuse out) would probably have done the same thing.
