Sounds as if its in the wiring...
If its under warranty...take it in for a checkup...dont tell it where your going ...vettes are sceered of the doctor...
First, go out and clean and tighten your battery connections really well. Corvette's do all kinds of strange things when they are loose/dirty. Everything from not starting to radio lights dimming while driving. Double check them every few months. And welcome to the forum.
If the lights are off, then the dash will dim that depending on the ambient lighting. There is a little round sensor on the dash, either above or below the DIC buttons if I'm remembering correctly (can't quite picture it in my head right now). Hold your finger over it and see if it stops changing brightness. If not, then I would say there is something else going on.
I have an '02 and I have problems with my lights getting dim and then bright. My DIC reading for voltage also fluctuates from 13.0 to about 14.6. I am not talking about occassional changes but rapid constant changes.
There is an excellent STICKY on top of the C5 tech forum regarding electrical problems.
Today I started removing the ground wire connectors and cleaned two and treated them with anti-corrosive cream and reinstalled them using star lock washers above and below ground wire connector. I also scraped off what appeared to be factory applied paint on the base of the grounding bolt sticking out of the frame rails on both sides of engine bay. Certainly a better ground connection can be made without a layer of paint at the point of connection.
Well, I drove my car to a Cruise-In tonight and my voltage still changes rapidly as described above. I plan to keep moving from one ground connector to the next until I find the culprit that is causing my problem. I have also noticed that my radio face light seems to brighten and dim.
Check out the STICKY as it has loads of great info in it!
