I have been asked if I might consider driving my car in a local high school homecoming parade and letting one of the homecoming court ride on it. (I have a coupe- that would mean letting one of the girls ride sitting on the top of the car.)
I searched the forum and didn't find much. Just a few photos.
I'm not too keen on the idea but if it won't hurt the car it might be fun.
Have any of you done this before?
There'll be no feelings hurt if I refuse.
Thanks,
-Joan
I have hauled homecomng queens many times on several of my Vettes including a 71, 86 and 97. You will not have a problem if you take a couple of precautions.
1) Get yourself a piece of 2 x 8 about 12 inches that can be laid across the seat (maybe long enough to go all the way across the seat)for the girl to step on. This will give her a steady platform from which to boost herself onto the roof bow. I covered my piece of wood with some cloth so it didn't look wierd. Also make sure she removes her high heels as she gets into the car. This will prevent accidents like broken ankles or a heel going through your seat bottom.
2) Get yourself a small bathroom throw rug with a rubber backing to put across the roof bow. This will help keep the girl in place. Those dresses are very slippery and a waxed roof is very slippery and the two together make for an embarrasing moment if you lose the girl because she slid off the roof.
3) She will have to turn slightly sideways so her dress doesn't block your view but she will need some way to support her feet so she doesn't flip over backwards or forwards. Once on the roof bow her feet probably will not be able to reach the seat bottom.
4) If you have a manual transmission make sure the area you will be driving though is relatively flat and the distance short since parades are death to a clutch.
5)Also make sure any horses in the parade go after the car.
Aw Jeez guys! Get some Zaino swirl remover and buff out the skid marks the next day. How much can a 15 year old panty covered butt do? Let's not get TOOOO paranoid here.

The Z-5 and the PC Fusion doesn't always work. It can only do so much they can't get all the swirls.
