I have been asked if I might consider driving my car in a local high school homecoming parade and letting one of the homecoming court ride on it. (I have a coupe- that would mean letting one of the girls ride sitting on the top of the car.)
I searched the forum and didn't find much. Just a few photos.
I'm not too keen on the idea but if it won't hurt the car it might be fun.
Have any of you done this before?
I got asked to do the same thing. I remember rreading a few posts on here about that. Worried, especially with a black car, that no matter how soft a towel I put down, I'm getting swirls....

There was a C5 commercial a while back with two young guys driving in a parade going extremely slow. One looked at the other and said something like "This is wrong on so many levels".
I know plenty of guys who do it, mostly with the verts, but coupes too. Our club does many parades a year, check out www.buckeyecorvettes.org and under the parade section is many pics.

My club lets the local high school use 5-6 cars every year. So far the kids have been very good and there has been ZERO damage from letting them ride on the car.
I've done it for several years with my coupe. No problems at all. I even hade a heavier board cut that fits between the center armrest and the door arm rest that gives them a stepping point (no heals though) to make it easier for them to get on the top. Even got a blue cotton towel that matches my car color for them to sit on.
The only issues that I've ever had is that one girl started complaining about the car getting more attention than here. But she still had a blast.

..I have one of those spongy, no slip deck mats. Thought it might be better than a towel because it wouldn't slide.
I did this several times when I had my 78 as a club function. Lots of fun parading around the track. I usually had the girl stand on the seat (no shoes) on several layers of towels. She used the T-bar as a brace. Had no complaints.
I was in a Parade a couple of weeks ago. the only thing that worried me is how to put on the banners or poster board on the side of the car. They had cloth covered magnets, aaa doesn't work, ended up using masking tape on the bottom under the door and string on top tied to inside door handles. How but some ideas from you parade vetterans on better methods?
