I don't feel that the thread had been hijacked. In fact, the more we hash over a subject, the more that some can learn by getting out all of the details. Afterall, we all would like shiny red calipers, or any other coordinating color for our beautiful cars, and this is an extremely important enhancement to the corvette. I have a torch red vette, and the capipers are etrocious looking. My last Vette came with beautiful calipers and many other mods that were done by the previous owner. I hated to sell it, but due to circumstances-did.

Is 316.95 for brand new GM calipers the right price?
To me, it sounds right, but so many times the forum has many other ideas on where and how to purchase certain items. I'm gettin ready to change my tires and wheels and I thought it would be an excellent time to change the calipers as well. Also, the ceramic brake pads would probably make sense at this time. Any suggestions / comments?
First of all, Hammie - they're not white. They're raw metal. They are just raised. With a sharp blade against the letters, your not hurting the metal, just exposing it. Go out to your car and look closely at them and you'll see what I mean.
I too apologize to the originator, but if Hammie has questions, others might as well, and maybe this will clarify the process for someone else.
OHHHHHHHH, well that just erases any confusion I've ever had. I always thought they were originally painted white and this scraping and sanding would remove that as well. Geez, this'll be an easy job whenever I get off my tail and do it.
