[Z06] C5R Vs. Darton...
this debate is old news
all GM blocks are sleeved as it is, they cast the block and then press sleeves into the blocks. go do some research you would be surprised.
there is nothing wrong with the Darton sleeved blocks there are 2 ways dry sleeves pressed in and a chemical wet sleeving process that darton does themselves, that is the sleeved block you want if your worred about the sleeves moving around
OR
you can get a LS7 wet sump meaning it uses an oil pump, LS2 timing set, ls2 front cover and LSx windage tray and oil pan. The LS7 427 short block from www.sdpc2000.com for $6299.95!! they are using the real LS7 block that runs $3150!! This is the best budget short block around, they throw in a bunch of LS2 conversion pieces for no additional cost. Bolt up a set of LS7 heads, intake and tb. I have priced this out a LS7 for about 12k + install, tune. If this was out back in March of this year i would have ran this instead of the LS2 403 that is about to go in the car.
C5R is becoming old news due to the cost. the LS6/LS2/LS7 are all 6 bolt mains. the warhawk block has a 6 bolt main but will have 12 headbolt pattern to be used with their heads that are coming out, BUT all LSX heads will bolt right up to this block. 12 bolt head pattern for high PSI and huge shots of nitrous.
there will be an iron LSx block comming out that is $2000 and can accomdate up to 500ci. Part number has already been realeased. I know someone that said they can get it for $1300.00. So this also may end up being a beast that many builders will go with.
