Default Bad A/C finally fixed!!

After reading a thread that was posted last week and a write up that Zuti had posted, I decided to try to fix my A/C. Ever since I bought my C5 a few years back I noticed I could never keep the cabin cool on hot days. Come to find out my AC was fine but a vacuum tube was trashed. I thought I would post this write up of todays events and how I finally fixed my AC. First I removed the battery and removed the four bolts on the battery tray.

As you can see I had the same problem as many other C5 owners.... tons of corrosion from battery acid.

When I removed the tray and started inspecting the tube, I discovered this when I pulled on it a little.

Completely busted!

I trimmed both ends and put some rubber tubing over them.

Then I put the battery in to test it. Well that did not quite work. So I continued to search the line for more holes or problems, I could not find anything. After a few hours of trying to solve the problem I decided to gently pull the tubing through the firewall to see if it was disconnected. Well after pulling about six inches of tubing through the firewall I discoverd another gigantic hole.

Well back to more splicing and connecting the ends with tubing. I put the battery back in and whala, the first time I was actually able to freeze myself with my AC. I did not realize I had so much corrosion in there. I want to thank Zuti for his write up. I will no longer have to ring out my clothes after a short drive on a hot day!!!

Oooooh thanks! That might help with my decision on purchasing a nice C5 with a weak blowing moist AC. We definately need AC in FL...
