The roads in Arizona are littered with chucks of tire carcases, and all kinds of crap! It's pathetic and dangerous. At least in Arizona - they've cut funding for the roadside crews to pick up this junk. One of these days someone is going to get hurt by flying debris kicked up by a vehicle and maybe they'll rethink their postions and find funding for a cleanup.
Just today on a 90 mile roundtrip cruise to the other side of town - I can't tell you how much crap I had to dodge. With all of these people swerving and weaving around these obstacles at 65 - 70 mph (and more!), it's a wonder we don't have some fatalities.
I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm glad you and your lady are okay. Good luck with the repairs.
I know how it feels man. I hit a deer (already dead) that was laying in the road on my way to the Outer Banks about six weeks ago. I was probably going 65-70 mphs at the time. It ripped off a good portion of the plastic front spoiler. I could smell parts of it cooking on my exhaust. It took awhile to find a car wash.
The impact was scary as hell. It seemed like I caught a little bit of air as I went over it.
That's horrible and one of my worst fears driving this car. As a matter of fact, last week while "spirited driving" I came across a rather large chunk of blacktop that had been dropped on a perfectly smooth road (probably a dump truck ). Fortunately I had time to react, and missed it, as it was at least 6"x6"x12" and would have been hell.
Glad you were OK, good luck with the C6! What color you looing at?
Sorry to hear about this. Look at it this way, you've had your share of bad luck and you should be set going forward. Glad no one was hurt. Good luck with the repairs.
Well, the C6's do have much better headlights.....
You're right on the money, Gary. It was definitely a situation where there was no way to avoid over-driving the headlights. I thought about the GP on the HID conversion, but this is a lease and around Orlando I so infrequently drive in real darkness it hasn't been enough of an issue.
If I still lived where deer run all over the place and it gets totally dark, you can bet I'd have been putting out a bunch more lumens by now.
That sucks. Good to hear everyone is fine.
The busted up tire incident you experienced prior to this one also happened to my wife a few months ago. The minor crack is still there and won't get fixed up till I get home. She said it is not bad though.
