The one issue I have with both of those bars is that the rear supports are already bent. God forbid that you ever need to use it, it would be better to have straight bars back there, but that is giving up a little more convenience with storing the top in the back.

The shop that built it, builds race cars. He had free reign(sp) to do whatever he needed to make it safe and NHRA legal. Placing anything in the hatch area was given ZERO consideration. As a matter of fact, I have not even tried to see if the roof panel would fit back there, and this roll bar is 2 years old. While I agree a straight bar is stronger, at 150 mph these bars are way stronger than we will ever need.

Mine is a custom that will do its job IF ever needed, still allow my top in the back and all Ok'd by our local NHRA Southeast Division Chassis Inspector. And if I want 9s........we can add the roof hoop and get it certified
When racing season is done, I take out the side bars for a while
Here are a few pics with SFI padding

Thanks for the pics. The set up looks great. Can you put the seat all the way back? I'm 6'1" and use all the available leg room.

If the seat doesn't go all the way back, it looks like either cross bar behind the seat or the bar that comes down beside the seat is holding it off. If it is the cross bar behind the seat, I could put the seat up to race, which I do anyway, and remove the cross bar while daily driving. Perhaps that would be an option if the seat not going back is an issue.

I am 6'3" @ 200....no issues cause we measured a LOT!
One time my 5'4" wifes makes out well
I have driven this 700 miles to BG raced and drove home w/o issue. Very comfy and no squeaks/rattles with a weld in set-up

Bars can be made straight if you want them to be, it is your choice. The minor bends on the rear bars will not make much of a difference. I chose to do mine bent to match the rear compartment of the C5 and all of its curves. I was in the same boat as wanting to have the option of removing the cage if I wanted to but than thought that it's my azzzzzz on the line. Furthermore, when you see the back fiberglass that you bolt through it is a no brainer. The fiberglass floor board in the back is about 1/8" thick. I'm not trying to sell a cage here but just letting you know my opinion. I probably won't sell another C5 kit until I do another one locally just to verify more measurements and fine tune the kit I sent EG. All cages are not equal. We also do these if you want one.

I have some finished pics of my car somewhere on the forum.
