My buddy has an 04Z which he says he is getting bored with. He keeps telling me that he wants to get a F 360. Something about how he loves the way it looks and drives.
I have tried convincing him that stock for stock, the Z is faster than the horsey car. Not to mention that they want 30,000 down and 1300 a month for 10 years!!!! I keep telling him that if he drops those 30K on the Z, he will smoke any F car on the road, and not have to pay 5K for tune ups.
He has the money to spend, so should I just let him, or keep trying to help him see the light? A supercharger or twins will make him fall in love all over again.
i love my z06, but if i had a chance to own a ferrari id have one in a heartbeat...something about a 360, you can make a mustang really fast too for the amount of money to buy a new z06 but which would you rather have?
Assuming money is not an issue, I wouldn't take a 360 over the vette, unless one is just trying to show off. But I'd probably bite on a 430 over the vette, which has the performance to go with the looks.

100%, the only car I'd get rid of my z for is the 430.
Something about that prancing horse and that Ferrari sound!
Like I've read here before, if a honda or any other car beat a vette it's still a honda....
and some people think driving a vette is showing off....
I drove my friend's 360 CS while in Saudi. It was nice, and every driver wants to drive a Ferrari. Having said that, my Z06 will eat it for lunch. And after riding in it, he decided to add a Z06 to his collection as well.

You don't really want me to answer that. I'd take about anything over the new C6 versions.
If he's got the money, the Ferrari 360 would be the choice no doubt! Completely different animals. Although a stock C5Z would edge out a stock Modena in a straight line race, not everything is measured in just purely numbers and times. There's more to a sports car than just that.
But speaking of straight line racing, I do have a race lined up in a few weeks again a Ferrari Challenge Stradale with a Capristo Level 3 and no cats test pipes. I've heard that car is LOUD! Five times as loud as my car from what a buddy told me, and I have the B&B Bullets which aren't puny sounding. That should be a VERY close race because it's a lighter car than the stock 360 (but weighs about the same as a Z06) and makes more power (guessing it dynos 350-360rwhp). He does have the F1 auto clutch tranny so I need to bring my game as far as shifting. That's all the details I'll provide for now on here. Here's a pic of what I will be up against...
This very same question was asked in a thread about a year ago. It ended up with alot of fighting back and forth, a real pain in the azz. They ended up locking the thread, because we all know some people here can be immature, and very nasty over something so small in the grand scheme of things, life is just too damn short.
I don't care much for the 360, but the Ferrari 575M Marranello F1 is the only F car that I could lust for. In my case, the Corvette is still the car of my dreams ever since I was 8 years old. That emotion and sentiment for the brand, trumps owning anything else for me personally. If your buddy wants to get the 360, you should encourage him to do so, and put his Vette in the hands of someone that has that same passion for them, as alot of us here do.

That tranny makes getting a good launch nearly impossible... my experience with it was that I had two choices - either bog and hop like some moron trying to learn to drive a stick, or spin the fool out out of the tires which isn't efficient. Good luck to you - but I don't think you'll need it.
I agree with upgrading the Z06 with twin turbos, or I would by the new C6 Z06 for about half the price of the Ferrari. The Ferrari's are definatley sweet, but I have always been an American V8 kind of guy, just my preference. If I had some powerball or Lotto kind of money, then I would definitely have a Ferrari, along with a Lamborghini, Viper, and a Mercedes CLS55 AMG for the stable!!!

Thanks, dude. We'll be going from a roll at around 60mph though. Also, the guy wants to be filmed in High Definition, so I'll have an extra person in my car. I'll ask for a couple races with the extra guy in his car though. I am not going out there just to make him look good on film.
Didn't you post previously about some race you were going to be in? I remember the post but not sure if it were you who posted. If so, who did you race and how'd that one go? This one is going to be tough for ya...too easy to get eager and light up those rears.
I your friend has that kind of money, tell him to keep the Vette and buy the F-car as well. If he ends up like most modern F-car drivers I know (I'm an active member of the Ferrari club and own a 308, so I know a lot of them), he will find that he won't drive the car very much because he won't want to park it on the street/mall parking lot/valet parking, etc. They tend to draw attention from too many pawing hands who want to get close to an F-car and touch it, so the owners get rather upset. They end up leaving the car in the garage most of the time and taking them out only for F-club events and the like.
Unless he doesn't give a damn and will drive the F-car as if it was a Chevy, he'll want to have the Corvette to take out when he wants to just run errands or goof around or go to the movies, etc. So, in that sense, he can have the best of both worlds by keeping the Vette AND buying the F-car.
And, for my money, I'd go for the F430 if he can find one. It is an improvement over the 360.

If I had the money, it would no doubt be the Ferrari. Man, that's a big "if".

Tell him to Keep the Z and get the F 360. If I could afford both, I would do just that. The Z to kick butt, the F360 to impress.
