The only spped limiter I had with my 98 vert 6spd was my wife.
Depending on circumstances it could engage anywhere between 85 and the right foot all the way to the firewall. It was a very positive limiter & I have the black and blue marks on my arm/shoulder to prove it.
the best is when the wife doesn't notice ...... until she wakes up, then watch out
140 @ 3200rpms 6am on my way up to Orange Block two weekends ago. Car still had plenty of get-up and go. Can't imagine what a blown C5 would feel like.
Hey, that was what I was going to say - took me awhile to work up to it but hit 159 on the way back from Denmark last weekend...things are going by fast...even more than the speed is the ability of the car to slow itself down as someone surprises me and I need to slow from 159 to 85ish in about 1.5 seconds - glad I got upgraded brakes and new GS-D3's.
Smash
OK, new record today...drove the A60 (new in 2003) today, hit 170. Oil temp was at 232 so I backed down. ( I had been cruising at 120-140 for awhile)

My question is why do people even bother saying something when they obviously don't know anything about the subject? The world would be a better place if uneducated people took the time to shut their c*ck holsters and LISTEN and LEARN.
Sorry for the hijack, but on a similar note, I was speaking with the local Ford dealership today - evidently the new Shelby GT500 Cobra is governed to 158 due to the tires, but can be derestricted via a special derestrictor kit (?) avail. through Ford AND you have to buy special tires from Ford...whaaaa? Imagine that - Ford being gunshy over tire concerns...

Vettes rule!
Tire speed rating is why F-bodies and Mustangs are computer limited in top speed. If the Vette had lesser tires, it would also have a limiter. Liability concerns are why cars have limiters on them...
152 mph (and 100% legal) at the sebring back straight right after turn 16. For awhile I was in the upper 140's but there is Plenty of run off room in turn 17 so I figure why not try for the 150's? Ofcourse I had brand new brake pads and tires at the time.
