Battery Ran Down Installing Mods.. Is there anything I need to be aware of when charging & starting the car?? Nothing in the owners manual about charging 7 starting after rundown battery. I put it on a charger this morning, hopefully everything is ok tonight when I try strating the vette.
If so the early ones are prone to leakage. I wouldn't trust it if it'd been run down. I'd change it on spec as the risk of a leak onto the computers under the battery tray is a risk not worth taking IMHO.
I'll have to check type of battery-not sure. If it's OEM, then I've read about the problems with leaking etc, and will change out. Is there any way to shut off the hood engine compartment light? Looking at the manual, I couldn't tell.

Thanks for the inputs.
Yes, there is a connector on the passenger's side of the radiator which is how the underhood light is powered - disconnect it and the light will not work.

Hook it up to an automatic battery charger and you should be OK. I believe that your underhood light should have kicked off on its own after about 15 minutes.
watch out for the ac actuator not resetting right. Of course my battery died too installing the sound system, and then put in a new battery and the drivers side was blowing hot. Argggg, but diconnected the battery over night and it returned to normal. Found the solution here on the forums as usual. Good luck
