In my observation, fellow C5 owners either crack the first wave or wave back the most. C1,C2,C3 owners, seldom seem or never seem to crack the first wave but will almost always wave back as C5 owners do. C4 owners sometimes tend to wave back but sometimes seemed shocked as s#!t that you waved at them at all. They also seem to never crack the first wave. C6 owners seem to be the snobbiest with the waves although they do tend to return the wave some of the time and unlike C1-C4 owners, sometimes they do crack the wave first.
I'm not sure how to "crack" a wave, but I would hazard a guess at your assumption. As you probably know, the early car owners complain every single day about C5 and C6 owners not waving. I'm not getting into that. I would say though, that many vintage Corvette owners WAIT for the newer (C5/6) car owners to wave first because they are sick of not getting a return wave. I know thats what I do as do many of my friends. This may be what you are experiencing.

Every week I promise myself no more wave threads........

I find myself waving at any year Corvette out of habit even if I'm not driving mine!

Just got back from a leisurely drive in Central Illinois on a nice sunny day, in the '58.

The final count:
5 Corvettes passed, 2 C4, 3 C5 (all C5 were convertibles, 2 with tops UP).

Zero waves. The one in the C5 with the top down looked at me as I passed him. Not sure what was going on in his head.

Yes, I would have returned waves to all of them if they waved. This is why I don't wave to non vintage Corvette owners any more. My wife waved both her arms over her head to the 5th Corvette, a nice black C5 roadster. It was getting comical.

I posted a reply today about an accident I believe it was in Dallas but don't hold me to that. The point is---I was driving yesterday in my 99 (just got it Friday). I was crusin down the highway about 65 with my brother in the car (he is 15 and thinks this is really cool) when this new white C6 hopped onto the highway. I looked at him and nothin---not a look, not a wave, not even recognition that I was next to him except when he jumped on it to speed away. I was really pissed . I thought he was rude . I started to chase him then thought much better of it (the picture of the accident was clearly in my mind as well as the fact that my passenger was my 15 year old brother---not a good choice ) so I let off the gas and just drove home. Most of the time when we would be in my husbands 84---we got losts of waves and I even got one yesterday when I took my daughter to the store but it seems that some people just seem to have this terrible "I'm better than you attitude" . It's a shame cause everyone I have met here is fantastic. Too bad others just aren't as nice.

No, you live in Southwest Florida. I live in South Florida and I started the post. Threw up a peace sign at a C4 owner today stuck in traffic here in West Palm and he threw it right back with a smile and a head nod. Not a regional thing, maybe the older folks in Naples just can't quite see the wave much less anything at all. This post has been a lot of fun. I hope everyone else feels the same.

No. Again read clearly what I stated. I waive at everyone. To crack a wave is like cracking a smile but since you can't see a smile doing 80 you crack a wave. Would you prefer I use "throw up" or "display"?

I love driving down the street and having other corvette owners wave, which is mostly c5's. Here in the DFW of Texas, I have found that c6 owners are pretty rude.

OK, I'll "again read clearly." Please don't spank me.

What are you guys/gals experiences????
In "again reading clearly" according to your direction, I see that you ask the question "when waving BACK... which ones are the most consistant?" The sentence, of course, makes no sense, as if you are waving BACK, that means the other car has already waved. Let's continue to "read clearly" and see if we can make some sense here...

Now we get into the whole "cracking" thing (wow, 4 times, you do love that crack)... nope, nowhere to you actually say you wave at anyone first (or "waive" -the way you put it). You talk about others waving first or waving back. I responded regarding why some vintage Corvette owners do not wave first. Nope, after being lectured to read again more clearly, your question is no more obvious than it was the first time. Of course, I never heard of "reading clearly," but that's another issue.

My response was entirely appropriate for your question, or observation or whatever you were doing.

You can crack, throw up or display anything you like. I have no idea why you would do anything but just wave, but I haven't understood any other point you've tried to make, either...

Ok, and your response WAS totally inappropriate making you sound like a total a$$hole!! Where did you see "waive"? Notice you even reposted what I wrote and yet the word "waive" is nowhere in there. Secondly, you can read "clearly" as in open your f@(king eyes and not your mouth first, as you did skimming through the post. Obviously it was clear enough for everyone else except you.

"When waving back.......which ones are the most consistant?" I think that's pretty damn clear considering several people agreed with my original post so apparently they understood that the wave was already initiated by yours truly or by the other readers. The question is also asking readers their experiences whether they wave first or second. In fact, you are making certain people other then myself seem correct when they are referring to "mine is better then yours" attitudes.

Everyone else saw that I specified C1s,C2s,C3s, so that told everyone that those "vintage" 'vettes were included so for you to say the whole line about "vintage" 'vettes waiting for the wave is again why I said to go back and reread what I posted since I had already said and others had already agreed on the attitudes of the "vintage" 'vette owners; no one here has said they were jerks.
Everyone is here to learn and have fun. Not to put up with smarta$$ comments like yours. If you didn't start it, I wouldn't have retaliated. Maybe next time you'll be a little more observant on the way you word things.

And as for crack, it seems it fascinates you a little more since you bothered to count it. I'm glad I added one more in this post to make an even 5 so that your vial will now be full and ready to light up.

Here in Southern New York mostly C5 owners wave back or do the first wave. It really makes me feel special inside

When out driving my vette I am always looking for other vettes to wave at.I would have to say that the C6 owners wave the least.I believe its the new vette owner theory. They don't know to wave. But I always wave
