Ok fellow C5 fraternity brothers and sisters here is a question just for fun. When waving back at fellow members of the fraternity, which ones do you feel are the most consistant?
In my observation, fellow C5 owners either crack the first wave or wave back the most. C1,C2,C3 owners, seldom seem or never seem to crack the first wave but will almost always wave back as C5 owners do. C4 owners sometimes tend to wave back but sometimes seemed shocked as s#!t that you waved at them at all. They also seem to never crack the first wave. C6 owners seem to be the snobbiest with the waves although they do tend to return the wave some of the time and unlike C1-C4 owners, sometimes they do crack the wave first.
I'm in Tucson AZ with about 10,000 retired folks that are happy as hell to not be working anymore. . They all seem to wave at me even if they are driving a 1988 Park Ave.
As far at the Vette drivers go I have to agree that the C4 and C5 drivers wave the most and the C6 wave the least.
In Vegas the C5 is by far the most often seen Vette but it's patchy. Some do, some don't. Older generation Vette drivers seem to understand the tradition better. C6 drivers still don't quite get it.
here in south central pa (near some place called 'carlisle'---you may have heard of it ), the wave is very much alive & well. i daresay that most of us who drive c5s make an automatic connection when we see a c5 (lord knows those brain cells don't get any more prolific as we age). regardless, when we love the corvette, we wave. if i don't get a return wave, more often than not, it's simply because i didn't see it. bub
I think the big problem is with our C5's is from a distance the running lights look a lot like the F Body running lights. So when yor are doing 60+ I think it's tough for some to tell, until it's almost to late. Then there are the Vette owners that are only driving a car, so they are not going to wave at anyone. I wave at all I see, I get about 60% waving back.

Here in NE PA we don't see too many vets just driving around but when we head to Carlisle (gee was that the place?? ) We did get alot of waves---that just puts my husband over the edge---he loves being a part of this---but I did notice that those with the C6's are a bit more snobbish not all of them but a good number of them. I guess that is because they can afford a 60K car they must be better than us "poor" folks that can't. I'd take my C5 any day over a C6--Hell I can't stop looking at it just yet
You have to remember that not all Corvette owners are enthusiasts. Some just buy a Corvette on a whim and have no clue about the history or tradition of their vehicle. They never go on this website and drive along in oblivion. Traffic also plays a part in the wave. If I am in heavy bumper to bumper traffic here in the Tampa area, I am much less likely to wave than when I am driving on a 2 lane road with light traffic.
I have waved since the 60s and my first 63. The other day I was out for a run and gave a wave to a C5-Z and he waved back, a couple of weeks earlier same situation waved at a C6 and she waved back. I wave at anybody or thing that waves at me.
I think waving is a regional thing. When in Ohio seems everyone waves. Here in South Florida almost no one waves and I pretty much gave up on it years ago.
c6 owners seem to be the newest to the club,so they're cluest.
Were you trying to say "clueless?"
Anyway, C6 owners are far from the "newest" to the club. Many C6 owners are previous Corvette owners. The newest to the Corvette ownership club are actually many of the later C3 and early C4 owners, because those are the "entry-level" prices and more experienced buyers rarely have interest in those cars. Thats unlike a lot of C6 owners, who have had older Corvettes, or still do and want the late-model to drive.
