Scam. They will want you to wire excess money from a fake bank draft or money order or certified check back to them via Western Union...blah blah blah. There are literally hundreds of these identical scams going on every hour of the day.
I'm a Brit and I've driven an imported Camaro over there for 3 years. There is no problem driving LHD cars. After all France is only 21 miles away and LHD cars cross the Channel in droves every day
$13.5k is way too cheap for a 2000 C5 in UK. The price would be twice that I would guess. There are over 300 Vettes in UK with very satisfied owners. Also there is currently only one Dealer who honors warrannties so that part is bunk.
Run away
By the way, my Vert ships to UK in 2 weeks so it had best be possible
Glad you didn't fall for it; you would have sent your $ to the escrow account, they would have had to cancel the sale and refunded more than you sent over via a counterfeit check, asked you to cash it and mail them the excess.
I had the same thing happen to me about 6 months ago.. But it was a car on ebay at a crazy low price. I emaild the person to get more information and he would not leave me alone. Wanted me to Pay Full price right then and there, which was about $10,000 cheaper, and he would ship the car free. He said the car was located in Germany, he sent me the vin.. (what a dumb butt) I did a car fax, and the car was located in california..
Contact him back and explain that you want to use your Uncle's shipping company because they specialize in Vettes and he would be offended if you didn't use him. Since he is paying for the shipping, ask him to send you the funds for shipping so you can get it started (along with the address where the car can be picked up). Tell him your Uncle's employees will pay him cash (U.S. currency) when they come to pick up the car at a pre-arranged time, offer a little extra $$ for his time. Then watch him wiggle.

I'm glad for all the responses we got on this. After two experiences that were shady there was no way I was falling for this. My point for doing this was the fact that I have read alot of posts on here from the "younger" generation and was hoping that the heading would intrigue them enough to take a look. After I read one post on the blacklist website from some kind of specialist that said "peole that really want something that bad will find any excuse to convince themselves it is legit"---it made me think of all the people that come to all of you for advise---just like I do and maybe they are out there all the time but...maybe we can help someone without the knowledge you guys have from making a huge and costly mistake. If one person comes to this forum asking about a deal like this and he is helped by everyone---I will feel much better than if I had said nothing at all.
I have saved all the emails and I am going to contaact corvette hound next to make them aware of this potential problem. There is also another one that does not seem quite right so I will also mention that post to them as well.
You have to admit that when you haven't run into this situation in awhile---you get complaciant--now we can all be on the watch again..
I for one am thrilled that I can come here and get the best advise around so now I hope I have contributed just a bit to all that wonderful information that is stored here with all of you..

tsts---you just made my husband very happy. He is emailing them now to tell them that he did not know I had already sent a reply---that he will be in London on Monday---that he totally loved the car and hopes they will change their position because he will pay for it right then and there if it is as described.
They never answered my last email..
So now he is having fun---just like you mentioned..

I took a little look at the post from tsts and went a little further. Here a cut and paste of the email I just sent over to the Christine.
Hi Christine,
I just got home from work and did not realize my wife had already emailed you on this car. I have reviewed the pictures of it and I am totally impressed with it so I hope you will reconsider your position.
And as my luck would have it I was informed today that I need to be in my London office on Monday morning for some meetings. I will be flying into London Sunday during the day.
I would like to meet up with you some time Monday afternoon. If the car is as impressive in person as it is in the pictures I will be willing to pay you for the car right there. Also I would like to use my uncles transport service to transport the car over here to the US. Oh one more item, I will be accompanied with my one of the lawyers from my company so he can review all the paperwork on the car. I would like to make sure all is in order for transport and customs.
So if you could supply me with an address and phone number that I can reach you that would be wonderful. I will be contacting you Sunday evening to set up a meeting time.
Looking forward to our meeting and seeing this fantastic car in person.
Good catch on the scam. His story seemed flawed to me. The side of the car with the steering wheel does not affect the side of the road that you drive on.
Cars from the mainland are taken to the UK without switching steering wheel locations. Can't say that they register them in the UK, but tourists do drive them there.

Wondering if I'll get a response...
...not likely - good touch - way to go! If you do get a response that means he really has a set of brass b... Next ask for the Vin#. so you can pre-register the papers and research the repair records.
I was actually taken for a good chunk of change a few months back. A nice car ebay. Guy said he was in Canada. Copied a shipping company's web page and even gave me a fake shipping id number. Long story short, I never saw the car. The incident was reported to the local authorities, FBI and local governement as well. I was wondering if there was anyone in Canada that could maybe find an address for me. Maybe the authorities can get these guys. I feel really stupid, but I guess I am not the first and for sure not the last. Canadian buddies, PM me. Thanks.

I wouldn't bet on it.... I know my wife said she is going to send an email to corvette hound on this listing and another one ther that just seems to good to be true... I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and this one doesn't fit that description....

I often wonder how these people sleep at night. At least our only experence was for $725. not thousands... But I do have small ray of hope of maybe getting some of that money back.... Hey if I do get my money back the wife will get her new exhaust system she wants for her C5....
Ok guys--I need your help. I have what I believe is a scam I want you all to see but it is on my email. I can copy and past the email but I want you to see the pictures associated with this. I also bet some of you have already seen this as it is a vette for sale on the corvette hound site listed at the left. I sent an email thru the corvette hound site the other day asking if this car was still availbale and that the price MUST be a misprint. Below is the email I received today and if you can help me figure out how to get the pictures here you can see the rest..So fo those of you that are lookin---remember the old saying---if it looks tooo good to be true---it probably is...
Being that I cannot get the picture from my documents right now I want you to understand that this car we are discussing is a 2000 MY/black vert with low miles (I can't remember exactly how many right now) and they want how much???
Start watching your backs people and research everything COMPLETELY.....
Thanks
Lori
The price I want to obtain is $13200(shipping is included in this price).
I recently moved to London, United Kingdom.I brought the car with me, but I can't drive it here because cars from here are with the steering wheel on right, and this has the steering wheel on left so for me this car is useless and the problem is that I can't sell it here because it's a US car and it is with the driver seat on the left side.
The car is like new, completely working, low miles, with 3 years EXTENDED, INTERNATIONAL and TRANSFERABLE warranty, which will be honored at any dealer .
It is US model with US specs and passed the US test emissions.
I would like to use Escrow-Europa for this deal because it is a large purchase and I want a smooth transaction.
If you are interested, please contact me ASAP.
Best Regards,
Cristine Pase
I went through the same scam crapola a while back and I told the scammer I wanted the vehicle but I needed to get the vehicle delivered first then I would add an additional $5,000 to the asking price when I sent the certified check...Never heard from the scammer again
