Ever since I got my '03 Z last winter, I've had a problem with the dashboard being very shiney and reflecting the sun onto the windshield. I've tried cleaning it a couple of time (I think the dealership where I bought it used Armorall or something like that on the dash and door panels), but can't get the shine to go away.
Anyone have any ideas what I can use to reduce the amount of glare coming off the dash, short of taking sandpaper to it?
p.s. How great is it that this is the only complaint I have about the car??!!
Nooo! Friends don't let friends use dashmats ('cept in conversion vans).
Only clean your dash with a damp rag. Don't put any kind of dressing on the dash. (Sounds like you might have used something glossy up there along the way.) Then, get yourself a pair of POLARIZED sunglasses. They'll cut the glare right out.
Wet a rag in a mixture of car wash soap and water and then wipe down the dash. Use another wet rag to rinse off the soapy residue. Repeat as necessary. Some of the new dressings are shinier and stick better than Armorall so it could take some effort to get it off.

Thanks. I don't know what they used on it, but it is shiney as a mirror. And even using Polarized sunglasses doesn't cut through the glare. With the sun lower in the sky, all of a sudden if am getting blinded by the reflection at certain times of the day.
I'll give it a try with cleaning the dash again. Any of you scientists out there have a failed experiment that might produce a dull finish on the dash instead of shiney? Remember, that's how Post-It notes got invented -- someone's failed adhesive experiment at 3M. Could be a new product opportunity. I'll buy some, if it will reduce this darn glare.
The best suggestion is wearing polarized sunglasses. They are usually not too dark, but they are designed to get rid of sun glare reflections. They work great, will get rid of the dash reflection.
baby wipes ,,,lol cept all that stuff is bad for your dash, and the rest of the interior.
Get malco pb-2 for all your vinyl and leather, no shine,it is just is the best
