As for response time, it depends on your towing companies in your area. I've waited as long as 90 minutes, in the middle of the city.
I plan to subscribe to my cell phone providers roadside assistance. They tow 10 miles before I incur charges and it costs the same.
My wife broke down on a trip. AAA only paid the first 3 miles, and my insurance covered and additional charges. It was a good deal, becase I didn't think you could use coverages. I think the car insurance covered the next 150.00. You may want to ask your insurance agent about your policy.
My wife buys the memberships for Xmas gifts. We generally use the membership to get discount amusement park tickets. I don't have runflats.

In addition to their towing service, they have saved me hours dealing with registration renewals and other problems dealing with registration.
If everytime I had to go to the DMV for registration issues, I'd never have time to do anything else. They also are good about providing maps, recommending hotels and motels, and dealing with other aspects of travelling out of town. They have their faults, but membership with them provides many useful services and saves a tremendous amount of time and aggravation in solving problems that otherwise would require a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

I've been a AAA member since 1978. I've used them only once, but it's worth the $ for the piece of mind.

Get it because it is FREE! Discounts on my auto and home insurance policy more than make up for the annual fee. I have the standard membership for my wife (~$50/yr). Gives her piece of mind and we get free maps too.
Worth every penny...actually, they are negative pennies....

I have had it for 15 years and used it many times. I even had them move a corvette for me without a motor.

I've had it for years and have used it a few times. That pretty much pays for itself. My tow vehicle died about 5 miles after leaving the track back in '98. I called AAA and the drive was there in about 30 minutes. The truck was towed for free but I had to pay to have the trailer towed. That wasn't covered.

we have upto 100 miles on our AAA membership.. I think it's great I normally use all or close to all the tows we are allowed for the year I think it's 4... the only down side is it takes them a LONG time to get someone out to you... I've waited 3+ hours before....

I waited 2 hours once. Friday night and they did not have a flat bed available right away.

I've had Triple A + RV for a few years.
Just had my crew cab truck towed a couple of weeks ago.
Twenty-two miles to the dealer.
Took about an hour to get to me at my house.
Didn't cost me a dime.

Definitely worth it.

Sounds like a good thing to have. I've got emergency road service on my car insurance and have used it a few times (not on the Vette), but it doesn't offer the same coverage as AAA. Think I will check out pricing for the added peace of mind.

I have the package that covers among several things, the 100 mi. deal for myself and my two daughters. Notable is that it covers you even if you are in someone elses vehicle!

Had them since I was 16 (I'm over twice that now)... been towed many a time, even via flatbed. Had many locked keys in the car, a wreck, 6-9 flats, dead battery and a battery cable which shorted on a frame and caused a fire... No issues with their service, even on a holiday.

Definite piece of mind and I've never had the threat of being dropped.

And no... I don't work for AAA.

Just wondering if/what you guys tip the driver after a tow? Especially if it's for the Vette.
