Who has AAA?
I think I read that they offer flat-bed towing.. I figured that might make it worth it..
I'd love to hear some good/bad AAA stuff.
Am I thinking correctly???
me: "so if i ask for a flat bed you will send it?"
her: "yes"
me: "you will send a flat bed?"
her: "yes"
me: "if I break down my vette is coming home on a flat bed?"
her: "yes"
me: "good cause I cant have some slack jawed clown dragging my baby around new england"
me: "so if i ask for a flat bed you will send it?"

Can anyone vouch for thier response times? I'd like to know my vette isn't going to be sitting somewhere for a long time waiting for help..

well, they got there and they said sorry sir, we cant tow your car, weve tried this before and ripped the front end of these cars before, only the newer flat beds can.
i said well dont you have the movable wheel or a piece of rubber so u can drag that side onto the flatbed. they said no this truck doesnt have that. i wondered then what business they have being a tow truck. bastard triple aaa. the dude said they knew that only some flatbeds can towe vettes cuz of clearance issues but they still send them out. i was pissed as hell, there was a cop watching me from behind who told me to get out of the freeway, i was like how am i supposed to do that i got a fricken shovel in my tire, so i had to jack my car up myself because the triple aaa guy did not know where to jack the vette up and i with the help of a steel rod that was in their truck, managed to get the shovel out of my tire after 10 minutes of struggle.
needless to say, i should have stuck with my verizon wireless car care package, they always responded to me in less than 40 min's, most often 30 mins and its only 4.99/mnth.
AAA

AAA
Very good when you break something at the race track.

2.) ask how much if you want to go to YOUR garage thirty miles away.
You'll find out it's a GREAT deal if you have to use it even once. Heck, its a pretty good deal even if you only have your car jump started one time.
Get the Deluxe. They'll tow you 100 miles.
3.) AAA doesn't have their own fleet of trucks. They hire local trucks. What you get in terms of response time and intelligence is probably a little better since the companies don't want to lose their contract with AAA.
I say its a great buy. Much better than other roadside plans (like from insurance companies) because it goes with YOU, not the car. You can use it on the Vette, or your grandma's Buick (as long as you're with your grandma).

I have used it enough to justify having it .
the cost is not that bad . get towed once and it pays for itself .
( I have 7 vehicles )
One blowout on the interstate in the middle of nowhere , and you would wish you had it .

I've had AAA for over 20 years and I also have the extended coverage for the 100 mile road service. I even use their travel agency service.
One nice thing about AAA is that the coverage is for you and not the car. You can be a passenger in a car and use your AAA coverage to get road service or towing. It's well worth the $80 I pay for having somebody come out in a pouring-azz down rainstorm to bring me some gas, jump-start a dead battery, or install the spare tire.
I've had AAA now for about 9 years and I can't imagine driving without it. I now qualify for the premium package which includes 200miles towing each time and trip assurance (like 1k $$ if I get stranded out in the middle of nowhere and I'm on Vacation). and a tone of other perks. I have road side assistance from sprint as a double insurance as in the case where I need to get towed 400miles I use AAA 1st then sprint for the next 100 miles after that. Sounds crazy but I have had issues in the past with other cars and I was out about 257 miles away from home and will not let a backyard or muffler mechanic work on ANY of my cars. in this case I saved over 600 $$ and since the cost of the package for sprint PCS is only like 4 $ a month and AAA like 100 (premium package) I saved almost if not 500+ on that one incident alone. I have a Z06 now and for anyone with one you know how 'useful" that re-inflation kit is. I mean green gue will always hold a blown out tire shredded into 40 million pieces together for a couple hundred miles right? so who need insurance !!! Heck might as well reduce my car insurance down to liability only while I'm at it lol

Point being I like others in this thread feel much safer having AAA as a tow service. Yaa you may have to wait an hour or two (if their is an accident) as the CHP take priority over ALL tow calls made to AAA, and if you request a flat bed you may have additional wait times as well. but again I'd rather wait an hour or two (worst case scenario) then have to drive on a shredded tire or have Billy Jo Bob come "Geter Done Fer Me" with a tow hook and trailer.

As for response time, it depends on your towing companies in your area. I've waited as long as 90 minutes, in the middle of the city.
I plan to subscribe to my cell phone providers roadside assistance. They tow 10 miles before I incur charges and it costs the same.
