or just buy a piece of screen from home depot and make a template out of a pizza box and zip tie it in and save 115$
But thats just my sugegstion, As for how hard it would be to install, not hard at all looks like the most youll have to do is mark and drill a few pilot holes and screw it in
and how easy is it to install, what did you have to do?
I'm trying to decide if I should buy this however if the installation is too difficult then I am having second thoughts.
Thanks.
Hi their you are talking about the shield screen to keep all the junk off the radiator.Yes they are simple to put on i did mine myself. All you have to do is like i did run the front of the car up on ramps.and the screen itself has holes in it where the bolts go that are already under your car.i am putting a picture on for you and you can see the bolt it just comes out and the screen is put in place and the same bolt goes back into the car again very easy.If a woman can do it so can you
I used the screen from ELITE ENGINEERING (@ $98.00 retail but on sale at the time). It looks similar to the SOUTHERN CAR PARTS product with extra mounting points to secure it (looks more secure IMO). If you go to the ELITE ENGINEERING website, they have installation procedures for everything they sell.
I installed one on my '04 Z06/Z16. I didn't have a lift nor ramps to do the installation, so my one hour installation wasn't an indication of the time required. Read the installation instructions beforehand, copy them and take them outside with you for the installation. Have all of the required tools with you...getting up and down is a PITA, literally. You use oem fasteners to install the screen. It will look oem.
As to the DIY version, I did that on my '96 Impala SS a few years ago. That car has the same issues with debris blocking the radiator. It's still very functional on that car. It cost me less than $10.00 in materials at the time. You can do the same thing on your Corvette, but it'll probably look no better than my DIY version...very basic and obviously a HOME DEPOT modification. The difficult part will be determining how to mount the screen so it's secure.

The other gentleman on the forum is telling you he probably put the screen on while laying under the car you can do it that way but for me i perfered to put the car up on rhino ramps which i got at pep boys they dont run much money i think they might have been $20.00 dollars. So you can go either way.I have had mine on for two years now and no problems.........Good luck Charlene
We installed one of the Elite Engineering units before our 10k-mile trip in June. When we got back there was a ton of crap caught up in it. Glad that stuff isn't in the radiator!
Only downside is that it keeps the center spoiler from folding back when going over speed bumps & such. No biggie, just means the spoiler will wear out faster. I haven't priced the center one yet, but I priced a side one and it was only like $15 so who cares?

Good idea , but you would be better off not to do anything as the screen you buy from home depot has nipples on it (rub your hand across and you will see what I mean). The nipples actually collect things from the road and will not let them fall off. You also will need to do something with the jagged edge that is all around the screen so as not to scratch up your car.
Ours or Eilite's, both are good products. Neither are cheap, but you usually get what you pay for.
I kinda wish there was a way to protect the exhaust system from plastic grocery bags. If you run over them, they'll instantly contact your exhaust then melt.
I did what Navy08 did. Got the screen from Home Depot, cut it, folded the outer edges back over to make it more durable, used the screws in front to hold it and zip tied the rear. Been on for over a year with no problems.
