I can understand why some people would choose to keep them in pristine condition given the opportunity. I just recently bought my 01 with 14k on it. If you look underneath it is spotless heck some of the assembly labels are still on suspension parts. The vehicle even at 5 years old still has it's new car smell to it which amazes me. Whomever the original owner was before me obviously didn't take it out in inclimate weather as it wouldn't have been this way. Being the second owner of a vehicle like this I sure am grateful to the previous owner for preserving one for me, so it's like getting almost a brand new vehicle.
Since it is my only vehicle it will be a daily driver. If I had another vehicle I wouldn't mind trying to keep it that way but I don't and this bad boy will be on the road when I need to go. I will just do my best to keep the underside clean. My previous '93 had a number of owners before me and was not babied. So when I got it, it was a long five year job trying put it back into excellent condition.
Although I will be interested to see just how well the new one handles in the rain considering my '93 was super stable and I felt very secure driving it in very hard rain especially with the F1-GS-D3 tires on it. I have a suspicion that these F1-EMTs will not be as good.
So yeah, I understand how some people will want to preserve them and others will drive them. It's not for me to pass judgement either way. And my new 01 will get driven and yes it will get dirty underneath and will require getting the undercarriage rinsed off, it will suffer rock chips on the nose there is just no avoiding this as they are put on the road to drive them. I'm always careful with it, I give plenty of room from other drivers and vehicles, but it will be driven. It's a shame not to drive such an awesome vehicle they were built to be driven.
Besides part of the fun of owning one, unlike any other vehicle in my opinion, is washing and polishing it.
I think it's about 50/50 for how many people are taking this guy's question seriously. It was obviously a jab at Vette owners who don't like getting their cars wet or dirty.
And it freakin' poured yesterday....I'm hoping for dry weather today, so that I may wash and dry it....then it will be able to moved into the garage. Shortly I'm going to go purchase my 1st leaf blower. Ohhh I love my C5......it's my 2nd in less than a year..........but this is an MN6!!
Still waiting for the Z16 that I offered the owner $40K for to develop.....

I drive my 4x4 truck or my company car when it's raining or snowing because I choose to. Then the Vette is still clean for the sunny days. Look at some of his other posts, he's not a serious C5 guy yet, but he will be one day.
That's why I have another car for my daily driver.

My God, It’s still out in the rain?
Since you have obviously ruined your Corvette by getting it wet, let me come to your rescue and offer to purchase the defiled machine. Keep in mind you have ruined the value of the car.
I feel your pain! I owned a 85 and 88 that were never in the rain and even still had the original windshield washer fluid after 20 years. I got a premium for that when I sold it.
If you wash it while it is still wet with rain water then technically it was never in the rain but rather only touched by rain. A BIG difference and then you should be able to sleep at night.
I try not to drive my Z06 when the humidity is over 60% as that is moving into the "driven in rain area".
Holy crap I never thought I'd see a Vette in the snow...first time ever!!!! Not for me but that IS a cool pic!
I hope they didn't forget to wash the salt off, the body might rust
I remember when the C5 was being tested, paging threw some GM info and seen photos of GM testing a C5 in much higher snow than that, it was 3 coupes of course with snow tires, apparently GM built these cars for all weather conditions. That photo made me go WOW, because up until that point, i didn’t know how far these "Tests" went, and apparently a c5 with snow tires does rather well or that’s what the report said.

c5 is so user-friendly w/ AH and TC, and so meant to be more of a daily driver than previous corvettes IMO. Seems a shame to waste years not driving when another c5 is waiting after you wear out the first one (if you can ).
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
