Like you, I have a great deal of respect for these cars. We play under the laws of physics... even so, sometimes there is just no saving the car when it gets out of shape... C5's seem really twitchy (at least mine does). Sorry you ran out of real estate but I'm glad you lived to tell us about it.
Good luck with fixing the C5 or picking out another Corvette.
