I replaced this part on the passenger side. Unfortunately, I wound up spending about $300.00 or so. The problem is, all the parts envolved have GM sealant on them and to remove the parts becomes destructive. I gave up trying to finese the weather strip off and just pulled everything off and replaced with new parts.

So basically, pull everything off the best that you can, take inventory, go to the dealer and say "Hey, I need these!". Fork over the cash and drink a beer.

Be patient on assembly and use plenty of the black gooey stuff or you're going to leak.

And one other thing, don't over torque the drip rail.

The above parts are the hard plastic parts (cracked parts). I am not sure what other parts are needed.

Hope this helps!
Those part #'s are correct. Cost was $92.95 each last week at my local stealership.

Weahterstrip retainer #10297742 (driver's side) cost $66.96

Both can be purchased cheaper at online dealership stores gmpartshouse etc.

These can be a PITA to swap out. The factory typically uses a ton of weatherstripping adhesive when they install these making disassembly a choir. Also. you will most likely need to purchase the metal weatherstrip retainer and replace that at the same time. It has foam tape which holds it in place and with the adhesive it will typically get bent during removal. So that part will most likely get damaged during removal. The retainer has to come off before the plastic reveal molding can be removed.

I would consult a GM repair manual prior to installing these parts. As GM denotes very specific locations, lenghts and bead sizes to apply weatherstrip adhesive for both of these parts to prevent water leakage. My dealership skimped on the weatherstrip adhesive and mine has been leaking for the past year under heavy rains.

I will be repairing the weatherstrip retainer myself next weekend.

My 03Z has the same problem on the driver side. Is there a way to glue it back?
