[Z06] Shifter Question

I had the B&M ripper previous to the 6-shooter and it was too short and harsh for my liking.
I plan on purchasing the new B&M shifter that replaced the Ripper. It's a refined version with an isolated stick like the stocker so it's quiet and smooth, but has the shorter throws and adjustability of an aftermarket unit. If it's too notchy, I'll try the anti-venom mod. They can be had for about 180 bucks at Corvettes of Houston IIRC. That's only 30 bucks more than the MTI, which is essentially a modded stock unit with a billet base.
Just my 2 cents.

Also, they do NOT respond to emails... Their customer service has left a bit to be desired IMHO.
In a word... wait for the new one if you want MTI.

What is the anti-venom mod?
Also, I have a HURST and am not real happy with it. It is real notchy and noisy. Since I do very little speed shifting, I'm going back to the GM shifter and get more feedback from y'all on the various short through shifters before buying another one.
Anyone want to buy a slightly used HURST shifter?

Basically, it involves inserting a washer on the detent bolt on the top of the transmission that controls the tension on the shifter. By inserting a washer (details in the above thread), you move the detent pin out a fraction of an inch, easing tension on the shifter mechanism. It smooths out the notchy shifter.
<Edit:>Okay, slight revision to the story -- I think I've got it straight now.
IIRC, a company called Venom sold a replacement pin/bolt that eased the notchiness, priced at something like $20. (My recollection may be off here, so no flames please). Then someone figured out you could get the same result by just adding a $.12 washer to the stock bolt. So, the "Anti-Venom" mod was born. The mod continues to be called the Anti-venom mod.

I am working on a full write up on the anti-venom with pictures for everybody, should have it posted before too long.
The short and skinny of it:
- Get a 3/4" ID brass washer (typically a drain plug washer), a rat rail file, 15/16" socket with ratchet and approx 4-6" extension.
Get the rear of the car up in the air at least enough to scramble underneath it. Look up toward the top of the trans on the passenger side and you will see a large bolt with a raised circular portion on the end.
Remove the bolt and add the washer to it, if it doesn't fit (like mine didn't) get your rat tail file and bore the center until it fits snugly on the bolt. Clean the surface of trans, washer and bolt then re-install the bolt.
You're done!
The one thing about this car that I never liked was how it shifted, and my comparison vehicle was a '97 Firebird with 120k on it. My first mods set out to make the car shift easier, smoother, faster and quieter. After installing a B&M ripper then replacing it with the 6-shooter (much happier with the MTI), performing the anti-venom mod, trying 4 different fluid combinations, and multiple adjustments to the linkage I am getting closer to happy - but still have some work to do...
