I have to agree. When going down the road with a bunch of other vettes(in my club) we all use those cheap radios to comunicate. My K-40 will p/u radar a good 1/2 mile b-4 anyone else says anything on the radio. My K-40 was allready installed when I bought the car but It really is the best & you really do get what you pay for.

It's true that the point and shot laser detectors won't help you if you are the target, however the cop usually is pointing and shooting others either ahead of or behind you and this sets off your detector so you are fore warned. Contrary to what was posted earlier radar jammers do work, they cancel one signal and ampliphy the next which causes the gun to shut down. If you do a search there are some comments from a radar technician who explains how the process works.

I have to agree with the above advice not to waste your money on a cheap detector.

I bought an earlier generation V1 on e-bay and it's next to worthless. It doesn't pick up the newer radar bands the police use.

Either save your money and get a good one or don't bother with one at all. A couple hundred dollars isn't going to do anything but flush your money down the tubes.

Well, I've ran both the Passport 8500 RED and the V1.
Going through TX late at night I was ticked while using the Passport.
The Passport sounded off and I checked my surroundings and did not see the LEO .5 miles later the lights came on BEHIND me, I was ticked for speeding. Now running the V1 I have the arrows showing directions from where the signal is coming, it is a great feeling of awareness when it shows alert from the rear of you and you slow down until the LEO passes or you spot him...
V1 is the best..
