I learned quickly how to take care of myself. I hate to be surprised and I hate to be snuck up on so I am always aware---force of habit I guess.. The problem is---noone is perfect--anyone one of us could be a victim at any time no matter how careful we are.

As for guns.. all I will say it is a personal decision... We all have different points of view on the subject. The best thing you can do is "pay attention" to your surroundings.

Thanks Sgt Paul. That is great info to have and very good for women to know.
It just blows my mind... to think what one person can do to another.. and for what? A 10 min joy ride? Makes me sick.. I think the PD did an awesome job. Yay for them..
Thank you Lori for shareing this with us. At least we can learn from this. Maybe keeping a better eye on the guy next to us. Looking all around. It's a sad time....
It always is a shame that this type of thing hits us. We need to get back to basics and add a couple more Rs to schooling. It was reading riting and rithmatic. It should have started with.. Responsibility and Respect.
I have always been an advocate of criminals losing their rights when they abuse them after convicted of course. It is amazing that criminals use the system so often that they are very knowledable to its holes. Sorry I rambled.
I grew up in South Central Los Angeles and stuff like this happened frequently. You just sort of develop an "edge" and just learn to always stay on your toes. I routinely leave plenty of space between me and the car in front, for a quick get a way, and am always scanning my surroundings. You just never know.
I live in LA also and have always left space in front at stops, for the same reason.
man i hate hearing stories like that.. i couldnt imagine somebody doin that to my father or i drivin down then road.. thats why my trusty ole 45ACP always rides shotty i wont hesitate to use it either..
hopefully they hang that a**hole.. if it were up to me, all states would bring back the firing squad... a couple 13cent bullets are easier on my hard earned tax dollars than a 500,000$ lethal injection..

I always carry a gun, as is my right, so I have a chance to defend myself against something such as this. Too bad this man couldn't have shot his attacker instead.
