Sad story. Looks like the PD did a good job. I wonder if the suspects did a "bump" to get him to stop or just approached him when he was stopped.

That is why my head is always on a swivel.

Yes it does Sgt Paul. This article started a firestorm of sorts on another vette site. Now they are all debating on why they should carry guns in their cars or on their person---as some states allow.

There was a gun carrying thread about a month ago. Hopefully, this will NOT start another.

I grew up in South Central Los Angeles and stuff like this happened frequently. You just sort of develop an "edge" and just learn to always stay on your toes. I routinely leave plenty of space between me and the car in front, for a quick get a way, and am always scanning my surroundings. You just never know.

A sad story but not a reason we should all start carrying guns to shoot first and ask questions later...IMHO.

It makes me sad to think that anyone should have to live like that. I hate the snow up here but I NEVER have to worry that the car ahead or behind me will be planning a carjacking against me. There is always something to be thankful for!

There is not much of that stuff here where I live either but being a woman---I am always aware of my surroundings---not just during the holidays but all the time. I have never left room in front of me for a quick getaway but I will have to keep that in mind..

I hope they execute the criminal! I would always carry a gun in my car if I could, but it is never allowed in my state.

I live about 20 miles from where the killing took place. It p*sses me off that there are these sorry M.F's out there that are too lazy to work. But, they want what you have worked hard to get. But, to kill the poor guy for his ride is unforgivable. They have the killer in jail on Capital murder charges. Here in Texas we execute a lot of killers. I just wish we executed more of them. We can carry concealed weapons in Texas. Being from out of town. The victom probably didn't realize where he was at. I wouldn't go where he was in broad daylight. Much less after dark. This is a bad deal all the way around. My sympathy to his family.

Unfortunately even in the Dakota's a woman is less safe than a man. It is good advice for women everywhere to be vigilant about protecting themselves. Like I said before, there are things to be thankful for even living in the frozen wasteland that I live in.

What a terrible thing to happen. Condolences to the family of the Vette owner. Hope they prosecute the shooter to the fullest extent of the law.

Scumbag. My state is #2 in the nation in executions behind TX. I'll gladly concede one more.

If you don't know it here it is.. when you stop behind a vehicle, make sure you can see their tires touching the road. That allows you to turn left or right to pull away if needed....

As for guns.. all I will say it is a personal decision... We all have different points of view on the subject. The best thing you can do is "pay attention" to your surroundings.
