i noticed the day before yesterday when airing mine up for the winter that the tire store i purchased new tires at 2 months ago stole my nice chrome ones with the C5 emblem set in some sorta ivory looking glass. they replaced them with plain old chrome plain ones. i took two off before i realized it. then it was like W.T.F. i even remeber the guy doing it saying something about them when he was removeing the wheels from the car. then while putting them on he was telling me how his fathers favorite car was the vett and had to have everything that had vett or the emblems on them. sounds like he had to have my valve stem covers. oh well. took me little over two months to even notice. i just wont spend the money on them again and it will all be ok.
I used to make "dice" valve stem caps for the kiddies in the hood for thier bikes. When they got new bikes I was one of the first to see them ,,,,i made them color coded dice caps .
Just get a selection of dice, drill the hole , glue in a plastic cap ....
Then the kids actually "watched" my stuff and never messed with it. BTW, if you tighten the caps real tight on rubber stem, sometimes when you try to loosen them the stem will sipn in the rim, cutting it and cause a leak. Hold the stem if possible when looseneing a tight cap.
Did a search but came up empty on this problem. In the three years I've owned my C5 I've had one or more of my valve stem caps stolen on several ocassions. Keep in mind these aren't the fancy C5 logo caps, just the original plastic ones. It's disturbing that someone is bold enough to approach my car on the few times it's left unattended. Minor? Yes, but it still pi**es me off!
Little Bastar*s!! This has happened to me a couple of times too. If I ever caught someone messing with my Vette I would show them what benching 275 Is all about with a Body Slam onto the pavement!! I hate thieves & liars...The only thing worse Is a murderer In my eyes. On a better note: Happy Holiday's
I've lost several sets over the years from various cars, but I figure me and my two buddies will eventually catch someone in the act. Oh, who are my two buddies? - Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson!
I bought some of the cheepie colored aluminum caps. Removed the rubber o-ring and found a hose with the same ID as the size of the cap. Twisted the caps on using the hose as a tool - nice and tight. No one's been able to remove them by hand yet.
P.S. I keep a piece of the hose in the car to remove them when necessary.

Let me tell you if it were me i would go back and find that guy who put your tires on and tell him you know what he did.But that's just me.
Had to chase 4 kids away from my car about 1 mile down from my house because they were by my tire doing something. Found out it was the valve stem caps. Kinda made bigger deal then it really was, but they could've been causing some harm to my tires so I had a big talk with all there parents. It was funny to see how these parents reacted, some said don't do it again, then some others got beat in front of me just over valve caps
But I'd never enlist his help just over some valve stem covers.
He's reserved for much more 'serious' type work.
Actually, thank God, I've never needed him and he will be my absolute LAST resort to solve any issue...
Well guys & gals I replaced my stolen valve stem caps today with chromies from AutoZone. I was telling the salesman about these kids stealing my caps & he said "Don't be so sure it was kids, I actually caught a guy (adult) stealing mine!"
