I have a 2004 GTO with the lease expiring in a week. I have been looking at a couple of 2000 Corvette's to replace the GTO. Would I be happy with a 2000 Corvette or should I just get another GTO ? It will be my wifes daily driver, 12,000 miles per year. We have another car to drive when the roads are slick. Thanks
Much as I would like to say get the corvette, my wife would be happier with the GTO as a daily driver. I mean if one shoppiong cart gets too close, it could end the marriage, well my marriage anyway
I actually just got out of my gto and bought a c5, i dont regret it one bit! i had cam, stall, headers on my goat and it only went 12.46 at 106 lol gtos are soooo heavy my car was decently quick in a straight line but couldnt turn or stop... my vette is stock to the paper filter and i know its not as quick but the car is better in every way, go for the vette you will not be dissappointed, trust me
I pulled up behind a car yesterday on my way home. From behind, it looked like a typical run of the mill car. I thought it might be a new Saturn. Then I noticed the little badge that indicated 6.0 and noticed the dual exhaust. Well I realized that it was a GTO. With that said... get a Corvette. It will never be mistaken for a Saturn.
I spent a great deal of time trying to decide on either a '05-06 GTO (four seats/trunk space) or an '03-04 Corvette C5/Z06 (more intimate seating and almost the same trunk space).
I went to a "prominent" late model GTO site and started asking questions and using search. It didn't take me long to determine that the GTO has it's own problems, was destined for extinction...and many of the members on that site were representative of the immature generation who own/drive/wished they had one.
I'm glad I decided on a C5/Z16 Corvette.
With all due respect to the question, the above sums it up. Owning a Corvette is owning an icon. I had a Judge in the 70's and loved it, but nothing and I mean nothing is like owning a Vette. Get one and you'll see what we are talking about.
If you look around you can get some amazing prices on low mileage gto's (04's) for around the same price as mid-ranged mileaged (55k +) 99/00 corvette coupes/frc's.
Don't know which I would get. I love the vette - but it is only my DD when the snow stops (and the rain isnt crazy). All year round is out of the question here (Alberta).
Havent driven a GTO, was thinking about buying one as my "other" car since my old 95 sunfire (HEHE) is just clicked the 150k mark, and the 05Aztek is used more for business now.
I have owned a 65,68,and 70 GTO. Those were real HP cars. Your GTO on the other hand is a generic grocery getter. So do you want a sports car or a grocery getter ?
