Default Just bought a vette

I am new to the forum and I think its great. Just got a white 97 A4 in late october. When I take it through the touch free car wash, the roof leaks a little at both front corners. Is there better weatherstipping available to keep this from happenning?

Quit going through the touchless car wash. Mine leaks in the same spot if I spray the hose directly in those spots. I haven't ever really looked for a a solution to this problem but would be interested as well if anyone chimes in with an answer.

Be careful with the touch free car washes. The can be deadly to your air pressure sensors, which are located on the other end of those long valve stems. (Don't ask me how I know )

The rubber on the roof does wear out and that car is 10 years old. I don't know of any better weatherstripping but there could be some out there. If you replace it with the stock stuff it will probably last you another 5-10 years though...

BTW, welcome to the forum

Welcome, Now lets get one thing straight. It is unlawful and determined a felony for a forum member to drive a vette through a car wash. We do alow you to drive it in the rain (mother nature), but car washes are a NO NO. You must hand wash it weekly and wax it monthly. If you follow these simple rules, you will be allowed to participate in forum "BS-ing". Again, welcome to the forum, and watch your step, the vette police are watching you...

You might be able to adjust the windows in a bit to make firmer contact with the weatherstripping. The Corvette is not known for being totally leak free when it comes to getting water in from the window area.

Wash it very gently, then towel dry. Apply baby powder to its behind, and your good to go.

Welcome, GM parts are almost always the way to go. Be careful if you start messing with it, you can always make it worse. I have on several occasions done just that. If it doesnt leak in the rain, it doesnt leak
Good luck

Try using a rubber treatment to put some moisture back into the rubber. I use a leather/vinyl/rubber treatment on mine. It doesn't leak into the car now, but if it was sprayed directly into where the a -pillar meets the targa it's gonna leak some anyway. My .02

Welcome to the forum, now stay away from the car wash. You will find that the love affair between you and your vette will only get better with each passing day. Every time I open the garage and see it, I simply say SWEET. I even have my wife now asking , “how is Sweetness today”.
