c5 v viper road course

turn no
I watched my video a few times to see and hear what happened. Once I learned what happened I put the video away.
I am trying to visualize what you are saying, but I can't. I am usually way too the right going in to 5. Is there a gator on the left at the start of the turn? I will need to look at closer at T5 during warm-up laps when I am at RA next time.
I love going through the Esses at WOT, and using the gator at the top to maximize my speed through 5. However, since it is usually a traffic bottleneck through there, I don't get to run my fastest. Maybe that's a good thing!
**** on thatIMO the guys who claim better tuning via "steet tuning" are pretty much covering for the fact that they can't afford a dyno! As far as accuracy of feedback, there's just no comparison between the "seat of your pants" and a well-calibrated computer.
Still, despite everyone's focus on HP, I go back to my original post - Seat time will get you better lap times than HP will get you!!! IMO if you spent $4K to $5K on track time, you'd be MUCH faster than you would be with heads & cam without the track time!
IMO the guys who just blindly say that a Viper beats a Vette on a road course, don't really understand how important track experience and skill are. We all think we're great drivers - Hey, we drive Vettes! I felt that way too, until I went to the track with my 520HP Specter Werkes GTR Vette and got left in the dust by great divers in Miatas and Subarus! Could I blow by them on the straights? . . . Sure! But if they got ahead of me anywhere in or near the twisties, all I ever saw of them after that was tail lights fading into the distance. I'm still improving my skills after quite a bit of track time, and still get beat by lesser cars with better drivers. Bottom line is that with the relatively short starights on a road course, big HP is worth maybe 2 to 4 secoinds improvement in lap times, whereas a car set up for handling (tires, suspension, alignment) in the hands of a skilled driver is probably worth 10 to 20+ seconds per lap.
Go out and eat some Viper for lunch!!!

Bang, I hit the wall
Caught my breath, then I said. "thanks God"
THEN I SAID

Oh well. Ok Now what??

Called Kim that evning and she said, " Well your calling me not Mark ( track travel buddy) so your OK. Besides you DID want to get those aero body parts. Now is your chance."
Good women.
The left gaters are on the apex, before you swing right over the right side gaters to the extra concreat / track over there. I cut the corner a touch early.

Dan
Vipers typically use Hoosiers, one of the best R compound tires but also for experienced roadcourse drivers
But dont even think about street tires on a roadcourse as You will get left behind killed. You will need an R compound tire of some sort.

o by the way if u have a viper and your buddy with a c5 challenge you to a race on the rack dont show off at a red light and put the thing into the ditch.if i had the rites to post pictures i would, and ,you all would die .
and the races at RA i am talking about are sponsered by the scca south east region and it is supposed to be in march some time.

http://www.nasa-southeast.com/hpde.jsp And you posted previously that you and your friend are in Group 1 & Group 2 respectively. You will both have instructors in your cars and there is no direct competition, so modding your car is academic. Just go, learn, and have fun.
You can also sign-up for Panoz Open Track, drive in Group C (lead-n-follow), then drive in Group B the next time and see how you do against each other.

on that note. good luck to you, and i would say practice, practice, practice.
Not to rain on your parade and all, but...
An HPDE is not an open race. So how are you planning on timing this little racing bet you have? You won't be running W2W. You're in DE 1 and your buddy is in DE 2. If he has that much experience on track I don't see how he would be in DE 2. Your AX background will help you learn track better than having no experience. But RA is no place for a newbie to be pushing a car that hard trying to beat a Viper or anything else for that matter.
I would just suggest that you cancel this bet and go learn and have fun. Someone is going to get hurt with the approach I'm hearing from what you are trying to do... If your instructors figure out what you guys are up to you will get booted from the event. I feel for your instructor already...

dude you have to go back to English class. It is painful to read your posts.
get some practice on the track beforehand
there has been some prepped vipers come to the events for playday afterwards- too much power, not enough skill
most of us run faster lap times
