I have read that it is best to find the best sealant possible and catch it early. Probably try Home Depot and get a heavy duty marine sealant possibly. Knock on wood (forehead) that mine is still doing ok. Others may help out soon too. Good Luck.

I paid $100 to get an upholstry shop to reseal my entire window after it came undone. Luckily there are two little cloth stripes that keep the window from falling a breaking. The shop guarenteed the work for as long as I owned the car too

There was a letter in Corvette Fever by a guy who used 3M double sided tape the kind you use for attaching body side moulding. Sounded like agood idea to me.

Default vert rear window

just found this post. heres a question. after installing hoops in my vert, the top wouldnt go forward enough so that i could close the top storage lid. after looking to see why i noticed that it appeared that the rear glass was not clearing the hoops and the fabric around the glass looks like it has seperated which would cause the glass to drop down and hang. its my guess that this seperation issue is the cause. im attaching pics to show what im talking about. if it appears that it indeed is my glass, exactly where do i put the marine sealant, and about how much would this possibly raise the glass so that the top clears these hoops?
i made leather covers for the hoops and put the 1 inch foam on the
1 1/2 inch bars. i sure hope ill be able to fix this glass problem. if not, where can i buy 1/2 inch rollbar foam. i dont want to go much smaller than that which would be 2 inch hoops.
what position does the top have to be in to allow for the sealant repair?
thanks for any help.
sherry

Its not happened to me but I've heard guys who have used "Perfect Glue 2" from Home Depot and JB Liquid Weld.

One member "ran a bead from where it separated all the way across to the other side then applied pressure with 3 rolls of paper towels and let it sit for 3 hours."

Worth a try

My '95 rear window seperated right after I got it and I used black RTV sealant (same as 100% black silicone sealant) and it has held for 7 years so far

BTW, every upholstery shop I called said it couldn't be done

I tried all the window places and 2 dealers who wouldnt do it but first upholstery shop did it no prob. but they had also done one before so I guess it just depends on how brave they are

...I made 2 wedges from wood blocks and propped the window up and let it dry(cure) for 24 hrs and it came out great...I just took my time in putting the bead near the window edge and used window suction cups to put the glass in place like they use at the glass shop
