How many people run a front plate? I didn't have one on my C4 as I had ram-air induction on it and couldn't run a plate, plus I always hated the idea of a vette with a front tag. I've had four vettes and never had a front tag on any of them. In Missouri I guess it's the law to run a front plate but it ruins the clean look of the car. I've never been pulled over in my C4's for no front plate but I've had my 98 for a week and I've already been pulled over for no tag . Just my luck i guess . Anyone else have this problem?
I've driven Vettes for over 10 years with no front plates, as well as my truck. I was stopped once by a state trooper and given a warning. Local leos don't seem to pay any attention.
I have the front plate becouse in Texas it is the law and I can use the $100+ on other things. I don't like it tho.
I've been pulled over by Highway Patrol out of a group of cars when we are doing 5 mph UNDER the speed limit. I had my plate on the dash because I had just installed a GM bra and it did not have a cutout for the front plate.
Several people in our club have been pulled over for no front plate. When we are on a cruise it causes the rest of us to have to wait on them - a waste of our time.
I don't like having a front plate but I don't like getting pulled over even more. Several people put their plates on the front dash or on the passenger visor so they can flip it down but I don't like the plate inside my Vette just as much (if not more) than on the front.
Just have to live with the looks or risk getting pulled over and maybe a fine.
One good thing about Florida is that they don't require a front tag. When I lived in Ohio which does require a front tag and I never had one on any of my good cars I got pulled over quite often.
I have to agree with the others - Why give LEO's a reason to pull you over and I could spend the fine-money on something I want. I did, however, purchase one of those license plate surrounds so it doesn't look so bad.

Got any pics of the license plate surround installed?
I've only seen one 'vette with a front plate around here.
So far I've gotten pulled over once and got a warning in the 6 months I've been driving mine, and it was (as usual) a DPS Trooper on a country road. I think the plate completely spoils the 'vette's looks. I figure if the fine is <$100 and if I pay it once a year on average, it's about like having kinda expensive vanity plates.
In Vegas the front plate law was vitually ignored by the LEOs. I guess it must be all the visitors.
The law is rigidly enforced in England. Its almost guaranteed that you'll be pulled over without one.
That said, there are concessions to fit US sized plates to imported cars which can't take the full sized Brit plates. I think I may go with a mini front plate.

That won't do you much good if a leo wants to write you up for no front plate since that's considered an improper display of the front plate. It must be attached to the front of the vehicle.
I have my front plate on (with surround) because its the law in VA. To me, its no big deal. However, before this thread is over you'll hear from a bunch of people who think its the end of the world.

I run the front plate here in MO. While I'd rather run just the rear plate, I don't want to be stopped for not running the front one. Got a painted front license plate surround and it doesn't look all that bad.
Use VELCRO on the cover. Mount your plate and Velcro the cover on If stopped tell them you were at a car show and forgot to take it off. Peel it, stow it, and put it back on when he's otta sight.
My driving alone gives LEO's plenty of reasons to pull me over - the last thing I want to do is give him even more reasons...
I put mine on just so I don't don't have to worry about it. My car is my dd and is dirty half the time anyway, I figure a front plate won't make it look any worse. (even though they do suck)
