40 years ago this June, I hit the same yellow "foot prints" at MCRD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot), San Diego, and the experience changed me forever.
Your son will make you proud, and be proud of himself, on Graduation Day, as he will be prepared to carry on the long and proud tradition of the United States Marine Corps.
He will have earned the title of being a ...." Marine", an accomplishment that he will be proud of for the rest of his life!
Just a friendly reminder....Don't refer to him as a "soldier"
SEMPER FI.......MARINE!
IF you don't mind, please keep us posted when Graduation Day is and perhaps a bunch of Southern California CF members might just show up....... You never know!!!
I spoke with my son several times last night, & was able to get him to get on this site. He read all the responses to that point & sends his gratitude. He said its nice to know there are people who care & are greatful for the sacrifice that the Armed Forces make.
He called us at 4:30am & was getting on the bus to go to the airport. I'll get one final call upon his arrival in Penndleton. After that its alot of letter writting.
To those of you who suggest I should go to his graduation......I plan on it even if I have to crawl to get there!
Many thanks again to all the Vets & active duty members, as well as the rest of the CF members who took a minute to give my son & family some moral support.
